Being comfortable and pain free is priceless. It's something all Professors deserve. When the challenges are just too great, hope has vanished despite all the hard work, prayers and strong wishes, it is our duty to give a gift. To enable that soul in that challenged body to be set free.

Prof. Buddy is now full of light and joy. No pain, no suffering. Only love. Running, playing.

The thing that helps is that he was not alone. Instead he got to pass over with love and comfort. Kindness. Compassion and a gentle way to enable his transition.

It is an honor to help him. He is a supreme being. Worthy of adoration and awe.

8/21/26 later. Prof. Buddy got to go and lay in the sun, although he's depressed. His front legs can't hold him up for long and his back legs don't move. However, there IS some good news for our Professors! HIS FEVER IS GONE! Clinging to good news......

His blood work has elevated white blood cells, naturally with infection and possible cancer. And even though his urea numbers are elevated (related to kidney issues), the other numbers related to kidney issues ARE STABLE!

He's been drinking and eating a little bit. Hoping for more in that area.

Staying positive for this treasure!

8/21/26 ECSTATIC! SO HAPPY over him surviving the night and with his head up!

8/20/26 He's fighting for his life. And he's not alone doing that. He's got us. And you.

Our gentleman is 8-9 yrs old and he weighs ½ of what he should weigh. 24 pounds. He should be double that.

Please know that he has hope now. He has a chance and both of those things are soooo good.

About his condition.......
He is severely dehydrated.

He's getting fluids, love, more medical help that he needs. He ate a tiny bit of food and then went to sleep with his breathing loud enough to be heard. That peaceful snoozing is a gift to our hearts seeing him so relaxed. Can't even imagine how his own heart must feel now.

He is hospitalized, he's got a chance. We don't know if he's going to make it. So many times the adrenaline that keeps a dog going as they are hoping for help vanishes once they know they are safe and no longer have to stress. So many times they then pass over night.

He has a high fever of 103.

When he wakes up, which will be a reason to raise a toast, there's some chicken waiting for him. We've promised him more yummy food and more love for his future.

Our buddy has an enlarged lymph node, dried blood on hotspots and his breath smells like ammonia.

He doesn't walk - it's too painful. His spine has a bridge and spondylosis. Not uncommon for older Professors of Love.

He has lesions which could be cancer on his sternum. Or it is a fracture.

We love him.

Would you like to be his Naming Angel? A beautiful $100 donation gives you that special joy of making sure he knows he belongs, he is even more visible and that you are his new buddy. See details below.

8/24/26 He waited for who knows how long. In the bushes, in dried brush. Think of Where's Waldo. Luckily, Rosales Eiring noticed him and started asking for help. We WANTED to help, but needed some financial support and the all important foster. Jonna Walsh started the ball rolling with a donation and Lisa Francis joined in. The foster appeared (thank you, Bianca) and Hilda got him to Goumao Vet. Such a beautiful set of puzzle pieces coming together!

Our treasure, our new Professor of Love is:
~ 36 lbs. Needs to be 55 lbs.
~ positive for erlichia. That's all (shockers) in terms of tick diseases and other contagious stuff.
~ x-rays showed dried poopers in him and air in his tummy due to breathing through his mouth.
~ has an infected gash down his snout.
~ has no tail, so we miss not seeing it wag. Hopefully he'll wag his rump when he's feeling better.
~ bloodwork has been done. Waiting for results, but it's pretty safe to bet that the swelling under his eye is TVT cancer (treatable!)
~ can walk.
~ eating and drinking although eating is a struggle.
~ probably a Dane mix?
~ safe! He's safe and will NEVER be alone again needing help!

ALSO think about fostering once he is healthy! Rescues need fosters in order to take in treasures like him! FOSTERS ARE GOLD!

It's so rewarding to, at the minimum help him, no matter the outcome. Being loved and fawned over is beautiful. Just hoping he will recover. To not be able to help is soul crushing
