ATVs and UTVs are used for everything from recreation to field checks, hauling supplies, checking cattle and other ranch tasks. But their size....speed and handling can create serious risks for drivers and passengers.

In 2024, 65 OHV crashes resulted in 3 deaths and 72 injuries. And so far.... there have been 4 fatalities in 2026.

Safety reminders:
- Match the machine to the rider
- Wear a helmet and proper protective gear
- Seatbelts. All the time. No excuses.
- Be mindful of uneven and sloped terrain
- Understand your machines cargo and towing limits
- Slow down after dark

UTVs and ATVs aren't designed for paved roads, they are for off-road used. Operating them on a paved road can increase the risk of rollovers and other crashes.

Over the last several weeks, the has seen far too many serious and deadly crashes on our roads in or region, including crashes involving extreme speeds.

If you're driving 30, 40, 50 or 60+ mph over the speed limit, you're not just putting your own life at risk. You're putting the lives of everyone else on the road in your hands, and they didn't sign up for that.

The family in the next vehicle or the family heading out of town on vacation isn't choosing to be part of your decision. Neither is the parent picking up their kids from school, the driver heading home from work or your friend sitting in the back seat.

They just want to get home without their lives being changed forever.

So, is the thrill worth the risk?

No. No thrill is worth putting someone else's life in your hands. Don't make others pay for your deadly choice.

Slow down. Get home safe.

You probably (hopefully) have a fire extinguisher at your home, but when’s the last time you actually checked it? Does it have rust, dents, missing the pin, or low pressure? When was it last inspected on the inspection tag?

Dry chemical settles in fire extinguishers. It's recommended that they are checked once a year to make sure they're in good working order.

When you need it, you need it to work!

Siren in the distance? Lights in your rearview mirror?

Knowing how to safely yield helps emergency responders get where they need to go. If an emergency vehicle is approaching, stay alert, safely move out of its path and follow your state's laws.

🚨 When approaching a stopped emergency vehicle with flashing lights, move into a non-adjacent lane or slow down if you can't safely change lanes. Move Over laws are in all 50 states!

You're probably not thinking about important documents but they will prove to be a headache if you lose them in a fire or flood.

This isn’t a wedding invitation – it’s your challenge to take pictures of your most important documents like IDs, prescriptions, insurance, passports, and anything else you’d rather not lose in an emergency. Save them somewhere safe and protect them with a strong password! Because disasters don’t RSVP.
