Arizona Trucking Association

Arizona Trucking Association Arizona Trucking Association is non-profit trade association that serves as the primary the voice of the trucking industry in Arizona. Anniversary.

THE ARIZONA TRUCKING ASSOCIATION AND THE TRUCKING INDUSTRY HAVE A LONG AND RICH HISTORY IN ARIZONA. From the early 20th century, trucks were the primary mode for hauling copper from Arizona mines to processing and manufacturing plants, raw cotton to gins and mills, cattle to railheads and local markets, and citrus to packing and distribution centers. Today's modern trucking industry operates in ev

ery aspect of economic life, delivering textbooks, medical supplies, retail goods and the building blocks of highways and energy production for the state's growing population. In Arizona, trucking is everybody's business!

75th YearThe Arizona Motor Transport Association (AMTA), as ATA was originally called, was incorporated on September 9, 1937 as a non-profit trade organization. AMTA officially changed its name to Arizona Trucking Association (ATA) in early 2004. In 2012 we celebrate our 75th. The association's membership more than doubled from 2002 to 2008, leading to expanded programs and services along with completion of a new headquarters facility at 75th Avenue and Madison Street in Tolleson. Our state-of-the-art building features an expanded Vehicle Registration Office and waiting area; fully equipped double classroom and catering kitchen; parking for more than 50 cars; and other amenities.

When ATA goes to work, things get done.

SB 1452 passed the Arizona Senate on Final Read today 22-5-3 and is headed to Governor Katie Hobbs for her review and hopeful signature. This session, ATA made cargo theft a priority — and this bill is proof that good advocacy moves the needle.

But here's what makes today especially meaningful.

ATA's work on SB 1452 was the catalyst. Truckers, retailers, law enforcement, investigators, and supply chain professionals looked at what we were doing and said — we need to get ahead of this — and came together to form the Arizona Cargo Theft Coalition (AZCTC), which held its inaugural meeting today at the Arizona Attorney General's Office. Arizona has become a significant hotspot for cargo theft, and the AZCTC exists because our industry had the courage to name the problem and demand action.

ATA lit the match. The coalition is the fire.

We're proud to have played a role in bringing these partners to the table and we look forward to working alongside truckers, shippers, law enforcement, and prosecutors from across the state as this fight moves from the legislature to the streets.

Stay tuned for updates as SB 1452 heads to the Governor's desk.

Also, we'd like to thank our sponsor Elect Kevin Payne for being our sponsor and leading this effort at the Arizona Legislature. We'd also like to thank the members of Arizona House GOP Arizona Senate Republicans Arizona State Senate Democratic Caucus & Arizona House Democrats that voted for this important measure.

HB 2305 is being sold as towing reform. It isn't. It's a set of rules with zero enforcement — a license to steal for bad actors. Arizona is already one of the worst states in the country for predatory towing. 260,000 non-consensual tows happen here every year. Without oversight, bad actors now have a law they can hide behind. Tell your Senator and Representatives: No enforcement, no reform. Vote NO on HB 2305.

Don't believe us, here is what Republican voters said about oversight.

What an incredible turnout for last week’s 2026 International Roadcheck event!

A huge thank you to DPS for taking the time to do ride-alongs with our members and allowing others to shadow during roadside inspections. These hands-on experiences give our members valuable insight into what officers look for during a stop and help promote safer, more informed operations across our industry.

We’d also like to thank Diamond Trucking for hosting the event at their facility and for serving as a lunch sponsor alongside White Mountain Trucking. Special thanks to Stewart Transport as well for providing breakfast for DPS.

As always, this event was a great success, and we appreciate everyone who participated and helped make it possible!
