Plein Air Painters Welcome at the Toledo Festival of the Arts

The Toledo Artists' Club invites artists to experience the beauty of painting en plein air during the Toledo Festival of the Arts.

Held within the Toledo Botanical Garden, the Toledo Festival of the Arts is a juried event featuring the work of more than 100 artists and attracting over 10,000 visitors each year. This free community festival celebrates outstanding artistic talent from Northwest Ohio and beyond.

If you would like to be part of the festival experience, we encourage you to join our FREE Plein Air Competition. Enjoy a day of painting among the gardens while sharing your creativity with festival attendees.

The Toledo Botanical Garden, often described as a living museum of plants, offers more than 60 acres of display gardens and curated plant collections. Its beautiful landscapes provide endless inspiration, making it an ideal setting for plein air painting. (Toledo Metroparks)

FREE Plein Air Competition
How to Participate:

1. Register
Complete the online registration form through Jotform.

2. Have Your Painting Surface Stamped
Check in at the Toledo Artists' Club and Gallery, located at 5403 Elmer Drive, to receive an official stamp on your painting surface and pick up your Plein Air Participant sign during one of the following times:
June 25, 26, or 27: 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Once checked in, artists may paint anywhere on the grounds of the Toledo Botanical Garden at their convenience. Participants are expected to paint during some or all of the festival hours on Saturday, June 27. Visitors would love to see you!

3. Submit Your Artwork
Participants may submit one painting! Deliver your framed artwork to the Big White Tents on the Bancroft side of the festival grounds on Sunday, June 28, between 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.

If you would like to offer your artwork for sale on Sunday, you may attach your contact information to your piece so interested buyers can contact you directly.

Artists also have the option of displaying their artwork for sale at the Toledo Artists' Club and Gallery following the festival. Artwork selected for the Club's showcase/classroom gallery wall may be sold through the Toledo Artists' Club. In this case, TAC will process the payment and retain a 25% commission on the final sale price. A participation form with additional details will be available when artwork is dropped off.

People's Choice Award
Festival attendees will vote for their favorite artwork from 12:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the Big White Tents.

The winning artist will receive a $500 cash prize.
