Sofia Quintero Art & Cultural Center ~Vision~
SQACC aims to nurture and enhance the creative abilities of all people through an emphasis on Latina and Latino art and culture.

The Sofia Quintero Art and Cultural Center strives to be a premier, regional, & Latino based Cultural organization that advances the important roles that art and education play in everyday lives. The center serves as an oasis for the neighborhood residents and local artists.

~Community~
SQACC offers the community many benefits such as…
-Opportunities for youth from low-income families to learn ha

nds-on basic carpentry skills and painting techniques.
-Six community gardens (Habitat, Vertical Strawberry, Rain, Vegetable, Flower, and an Orchard) that offer young children, teens, and community members active participation in organic gardening.
-Year-round art programs for low-income families that provide youth the ability to create and express themselves through various art mediums.
-A safe site to complete community service hours for at-risk youth and adults, and students that are required to participate in community service.

~Core Beliefs~
-Arts are important to neighborhood and society.
-Education is a key component to personal transformation and self-empowerment.
-Personal investment and professional excellence are important tools of society.
-The appreciation of cultural diversity and universal tolerance is essential.
-These beliefs can be exhibited through community development and social equity within Latina/Latino neighborhoods, our city, region, country, and the globe.

~Culture~
-Día de los Mu***os is an annual event that promotes community engagement and pays homage to loved ones that have passed away with celebration through the creation of altars that reflect their lives.
-First Friday is a free monthly gathering of community members sharing educational and cultural experiences.
-Entre Amigos is a spring social gathering that allows community members to enjoy food, reconnect, and form new friendships.

~Comunidad~
SQACC ofrece a la comunidad muchos beneficios tales como...
-Oportunidades para los jóvenes de familias de bajos recursos para aprender habilidades básicas de carpintería y técnicas de pintura.
-Seis jardines de uso público (hábitat, fresa vertical, lluvia, vegetal, flor y un huerto) que ofrecen a niños, adolecentes y miembros de la comunidad la oportunidad de participar en jardinería orgánica.
-Programas de arte todo el año para familias de bajos recursos que proveen a los jóvenes la capacidad a crear y se expresan a través de medios artísticos variados.
-Un sitio seguro para jóvenes en riesgo, adultos en riesgo, y estudiantes quien tienen que cumplir horas de servicios comunitarios.

~Creencias Fundamentales~
-Las artes son importantes en el desarrollo del barrio y la sociedad.
-La educación es un componente fundamental en la transformación personal y el auto empoderamiento.
-La inversión personal y la excelencia profesional son herramientas importantes de la sociedad.

-El día de los mu***os es un evento anual que promueve la participación de la comunidad. Se rinde homenaje a los queridos fallecidos mediante la creación de altares que reflejan sus vidas.
-First Friday es una reunión mensual gratis para miembros de la comunidad. Aquí se comparten experiencias educativas y culturales.
-Entre Amigos es una reunión social que da a los miembros de la comunidad la oportunidad de disfrutar de la comida, reconectarse, y crear amistades nuevas.

Let’s take you back to our Entre Amigos 2024 art exhibition “Baile”. A beautiful showcase of traditional dresses worn by Folkloric dancers. Celebrating culture, movement, and artistry. ✨
