The Impact College Initiative Program of Toledo, located in Toledo, OH is an after school program with the objective of helping local area middle school students increase their awareness of their college and career options upon graduating high school. We are also dedicated to making sure that each student enrolled in our after school programming maintains at least a 75% or higher in their academi

cs. This is accomplished by academic tutoring provided by the program director, community volunteers, and a partnership with each student’s teacher to provide the necessary support during the school day. Our goal is that by the end of 8th grade each middle school student enrolled in our program will attend an institution of higher education that will prepare them for life. Since 2012 The Impact College Initiative Program of Toledo has serviced over 50 middle school students with the objective of making sure that students are prepared for high school and are aware of their options after high school graduation. To date, Impact has helped over 60% of our students get into their first choice of private high school with more than half receiving grants and scholarships to help pay their tuition. The Impact College Initiative Program of Toledo currently serves more than 30 low income middle school children located in Toledo, OH. A portion of students served are considered at-risk because of their reading performance. The vast majority of the population served are on track to becoming first generation high school and college graduates.

The Impact Program of Toledo would like to give a heartfelt thanks to the incredible members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated for stopping by the IMPACT Program and sharing their time, wisdom, and history with the young ladies of our program.

They talked with them about the importance of maintaining high academics, being a leader at all times and using their networking skills to make major moves!

Their presence and words made a powerful impression, offering our students a meaningful example of sisterhood, service, and leadership.

This morning our Impact students had the opportunity to attend “The Garage” car maintenance workshop. This hands on workshop allowed our students to learn basic car maintenance such as changing tires, checking fluids, replacing windshield wipers and more.

As our students begin to transition into high school it was important that they learned the basics of car maintenance in order to keep themselves and others safe while on the road.

We want to give a big thank you to Blair Johnson Lance Self and Taylor Hyundai of Toledo for putting together this amazing workshop for our youth and the community.

The Impact Program of Toledo and Rise and Shine Academy partnered this morning as our students took a trip to the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History.

This trip allowed our students to have a hands on cultural experience as they learned more about African American history as well as the impact and contributions made from those before them. Our students were able to ask in depth questions as well as interact with artifacts at the museum.

We also want to say thank you to Rise and Shine staff and our Impact parents for being an amazing chaperones on the trip today. ❤️

This morning our The Impact Program of Toledo students attended the Empowering Minds workshops hosted by Cecil Holston II. They had the opportunity to create affirmations jars and write down as many affirmations about themselves that they could think of. After writing down their affirmations they were able to place them inside their jars and decorate them. They also got the chance to network and introduce themselves to other students that attended the session while enjoying a pizza lunch.

Shout out to Cecil for creating a positive and impactful experience that allowed our students to build up their self esteem and confidence. The next session is March 22nd so make sure you sign your kids up! 💪🧠

The students of The Impact Program of Toledo participated in a special Valentine’s Day community service project where they created heartfelt Valentine’s Day cards for the residents at the Glass Peaks Senior Living facility. Our students wrote thoughtful messages and affirmations to bring joy and warmth to the residents, reminding them that they are loved and appreciated. 💌❤️

Thank you to Kiara Byrd for helping us coordinate this community service opportunity for our students.
