NextUp Health Response

NextUp Health Response As
a program of The Salvation Army, RISE is the continuation of The Army’s
international and historical commitment to fighting human trafficking.

Dear Partners in Ministry,

The Salvation Army is excited to announce the Second Chance program has
transitioned to Recovering Individuals from Sexual Exploitation (RISE). Due
to its unique position of working in 126 countries, The Army is able to see
the wake of destruction that is left from this brutal act upon humanity -
the desperate causes, the tragic consequences, and all the raw pain that

exists in between. From a historical perspective, The Army’s Victorian
England 1880’s groundbreaking leadership in this area, which included
public awareness and advocacy work, establishing some of the first homes
for women and children who were caught in the horrors of s*x trafficking
during Victorian England, as well as developing extensive “Rescue Work, ”
were the major catalysts that assisted in the passage of the 1885 Criminal
Law Amendment Act, which raised the age of consent from 13 to 16 (although
they sought 18). In Northwest Ohio, RISE offers comprehensive case management services to
those involved in or at risk for s*x trafficking or street based
prostitution, peer support, and advocacy through the work of both paid and
volunteer s*x trafficking survivors. RISE collaborates with community
partners such as the Lucas County Human Trafficking Coalition, the Human
Trafficking Core Cluster, the FBI’s Innocence Lost Task Force, and
Advocating Opportunity to consistently and effectively respond to the needs
of victims of human trafficking and/or street based prostitution. Our goal
is to successfully move individuals through the continuum of care to become
survivors and thrivers. As Second Chance transitions to RISE, you can see our growth and
development by visiting our page and Twitter. Currently, we are
in the process of finalizing our website. We will let you know when it is
fully functional. The address will be www.rise.salvationarmy.org. We are
excited to share our progress with you. Your continued support to victims is needed and appreciated.
