We had a productive (not glamorous) weekend at the tree nursery. On Friday, we picked up donated large pots for trees that have outgrown their old homes, and we also planted trees. On Saturday, some of our members gave away trees at the Toledo Farmers' Market . If you want to get involved, our next work day is Saturday 10/31 at 10am (419 Floyd Street).

Hi everyone -- we have lots of work to do to get our all-volunteer/nonprofit nursery ready for winter. We want to inventory our trees and begin to insulate them for winter. We also would like to repot some of our trees that have outgrown their pots. There's lots of work to do for Toledo's urban forest. Please join us if you can. This is also a great time of year to plant a tree from our nursery.

Arboretum Detroit planted 1,800 trees across 55 vacant Poletown East lots and bought the land to protect them. Visit on a free walk Aug. 22.

Hey everyone we are going to try something different this month: "W**d it and Eat." W**ds are a constant challenge for our nursery (especially the bindweed), but we have other projects that we need to do to advance our nursery (completing the workstation, starting the propagation station, planting around the fence, et cetera). To try to get a handle on the weeds we are going to do a pizza party/weeding blitz in the near future. We are thinking about a Thursday evening later this month. What Toledo pizza offers the best value?

Friendly reminder that tomorrow (7/25) is our Last Saturday volunteer workday. Saturday, July 25th from 10am- noon we are working on the nursery. We still have lots of important work to do -- wedding, repotting trees, reorganizing rows, planting seeds, and preparing our irrigation system upgrade. 419 Floyd (corner of Floyd and Horton)
This year we have more trees than ever before already growing in the nursery (over 3000); this means we need to increase our active volunteers. Last Saturday volunteer days are the best time to get involved.
