If you've volunteered with the Floyd Street Tree Nursery you have undoubtedly met Sampson. He is a black labrador and a bundle of joy. When we needed a mascot and a spokesperson, he stepped up. Please remember that English is not his first language, so he stutters a little bit, and he messes up our address: 419 Floyd is correct.

Friendly reminder from our mascot Sampson to bring dog treats to our volunteer workday. Saturday May 30th from 10am- noon we are working on the nursery. We still have lots of important work to do -- wedding, potting trees, reorganizing rows, planting seeds, and preparing our irrigation system upgrade. 419 Floyd (corner of Floyd and Horton)
This year we have more trees than ever before already growing in the nursery (over 3000); this means we need to increase our active volunteers. Last Saturday volunteer days are the best time to get involved.

We had a great workday on Saturday -- we potted 450 trees. If you want to join in the fun, Last Saturday volunteer workdays are May 30, June 27, July 25, August 29, September 26, October 31. We are there from 10am - noon.

Two weeks from today (Saturday, April 25th 9am-1pm), we will be potting up 500+ tree seedlings. This is a big/all-hands-on-deck day. Come join us at 419 Floyd Street. We will have trees for those who are interested in taking them home. (Floyd Street Nursery is an all-volunteer/non-profit tree nursery that works to improve the urban forest in northwest Ohio).

It was opening day at the tree nursery today and we were joined by nine fabulous volunteers from UT's Big Event.

Mark your calendars for future volunteer opportunities at the nursery: Saturday, April 25th 9am-1pm Tree potting/Last Saturday workday. This is a big/all-hands on deck day. We will have 100s of new trees to pot up.

We are making tree seedling orders for spring 2026. We will have Black Hills Spruce, Norway Spruce, Kentucky Coffeetree, Paper Birch, Choke Cherry, Northern Pecan, and more. There are two ways you can help: 1) volunteer to help pot up these trees.
