💚 World Mental Health Day | October 10 💚

Today, the Toledo (OH) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated joins our Link sisters and communities around the world in recognizing World Mental Health Day, a reminder that caring for our mental health is just as important as caring for our physical health.

Here in Toledo, we believe that strong communities are built through compassion, connection, and caring for one another. Everyone deserves to feel seen, heard, supported, and valued.

This year's theme, “Lived experiences heard: real voices, real change,” reminds us that every story matters. When we take the time to listen with open hearts, share our experiences, and support one another, we create space for healing, hope, and meaningful change.

As we continue serving our Toledo community, we remain committed to encouraging conversations that break down stigma, strengthen connections, and remind our neighbors that no one has to navigate life's challenges alone.

Today and every day, let's check on our loved ones, extend a little extra kindness, and make room for conversations that matter.

💚 Because when we care for one another, our entire community grows stronger.

Women’s Equality Day | August 26, 2026 💚

On Wednesday, August 26, members of the Toledo (OH) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated joined women across our community in recognizing Women’s Equality Day through advocacy, dialogue, leadership, and civic engagement.

The day began at AAUW Toledo’s “Equity in Action: Breaking Barriers. Building Belonging.” at the National Museum of the Great Lakes. Link Member Lois Bingham Jordan served as moderator, guiding an honest conversation about the progress women have made, the barriers that remain, and the work required to create greater access, opportunity, and belonging.

That evening, the work continued at Women of Toledo’s Annual Women’s Equality Day Forum, an event that recognizes the long struggle for women’s voting rights while creating space to examine how gender intersects with race, socioeconomic status, and other barriers women continue to experience.

Link Member Dr. Brittany Jones participated as a panelist, and Link Member Malaika Bell lead the group through sharing with community our takeaways from the conversation. The Toledo Chapter’s National Trends and Services (NTS) Facet also hosted a voter registration table, a particularly meaningful connection to a day rooted in the history of women fighting for access to the ballot.

Across two community events in one day, our Link Members helped facilitate dialogue, elevate women’s voices, encourage civic participation, and move equity from conversation toward action.

Women’s Equality Day reminds us that progress is something we inherit, protect, and continue.

💚 Friendship. Fellowship. Legacy.

What happens when Alumna members and a few current members of the Toledo (OH) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated connect over lunch?

Laughter. Hugs. A celebration of friendship. And a history lesson in community leadership.

Our Alumna members gathered for an afternoon filled with shared memories, stories of service, and reflections on the women whose leadership helped shape our Chapter and our community. It was a beautiful reminder that while active service may have seasons, friendship and the legacy of The Links endure.

We were especially honored to celebrate Platinum Member Marianne Payne, whose more than 50 years of membership represent an extraordinary commitment to friendship and service.

Special thanks to our hosts Laneta Goings, Deborah Barnett , and Johnetta McCollough for bringing everyone together, and to The Blade for highlighting this enduring connection in its On the Town section published August 2, 2026.

As the Toledo (OH) Chapter approaches its 55th anniversary in 2027, we celebrate the women who built our foundation, the friendships that continue to sustain us, and the legacy we are entrusted to carry forward.
