Thank you VFW POST 2480 and Auxiliary for your generosity!

Corrine McRitchie with Family and Child Abuse Prevention Center-was presented with a check today from the Vfw Post 2480 Presenting for the Post is Quartermaster Cole Araguz. Corrine has been a court advocate with FCAPC for 20 years, working with our Ottawa County community that entire time. Her job is to guide victims of violent crimes through the court process. She also refers them to other services they may need, works closely with the prosecutors office, and the court personnel at OCMC and DR Court as well as other organizations in the community with similar missions to help the victim.

She thanks the Post and its officers very much for this significant donation.

💜 October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month 💜

All too often children are victims too

When children witness domestic violence, they are impacted—even if they are never physically harmed.

A child may hear yelling, see a caregiver being hurt, hide during an argument, or worry about what will happen next. These experiences can affect a child’s sense of safety, emotional well-being, relationships, and ability to cope.

💔 Children may experience:
• Anxiety, fear, or sadness
• Sleep difficulties or nightmares
• Anger or emotional outbursts
• Difficulty concentrating at school
• Changes in behavior or relationships
• Feelings of guilt or responsibility
• Increased need for reassurance and safety

Children need to know: The violence is not their fault. It is not their responsibility to stop it. And they deserve to feel safe.

During Domestic Violence Awareness Month, let’s remember that supporting survivors also means supporting the children who experience violence in their homes.

💜 Every child deserves safety, stability, and the opportunity to heal.

We’re so excited to partner with pēkoMD: Peter Koltz, MD for a special evening of self-care, community, and purpose in recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

Our goal is to fill every available appointment and welcome at least 50 guests — because 100% of the proceeds from this fundraiser will support the Family and Child Abuse Prevention Center and the work that is so greatly needed in our community.

The recent news about the Ohio home where 16 children were found living in unimaginable conditions is heartbreaking. It reminds us that child abuse and neglect often happen behind closed doors, and sometimes the warning signs are missed.

We are grateful for Becca's time and talents. Becca is an AVP/Branch Manager at F&M Bank. In addition to helping with our banking needs, Becca serves on our Financial Development committee.
