Attention 43609 Zip Code!! FREE Spay/neuter of community/stray cats (feral cats NOT owned pets)

Thanks to a Grant provided by a former neighbor from the Burroughs area there is now money to spay/neuter community cats (Feral not owned pets) at Humane Ohio on Alexis, for FREE!!!!!

You will need to schedule appointments, live trap them and transport but if people in the neighborhood work together, it can be done! Then there will be so many less unwanted litters this spring!

Humane Ohio has a new and easier program of scheduling appointments, and they also rent traps and that deposit to rent it is refunded to you once trap is returned.

The following is from their page explaining process and remember if you live in the 43609 zip there is NO COST for any community cats (not owned pets) that you live trap to take in!

"We know many of you have had questions about our new guidelines for community cat appointments this year, so we wanted to clarify one important change:
The cat must come in a live trap, not a carrier.
We understand that not everyone has a trap on hand and that some community cats may be friendly, but the primary reason for this change is to ensure the safety of everyone involved—our staff, the cats, and you as the caretaker. We all know there are some spicy cats out there!

Every community cat that comes through our doors is a bit of a mystery. While some may be friendly with their regular caretakers, a vet environment can be a completely different experience and potentially scary for outdoor cats. This new rule helps us avoid the risk of any potential bites or stress-related incidents for everyone involved.

Don’t have a trap? Humane Ohio has live traps available for rent ahead of your appointment, giving you the chance to trap-train your community cat and ensure a smooth visit. If you rent a trap from us prior to your appointment, the deposit is only $100 and will fully be refunded to you once the trap is returned. Find out how here: https://humaneohio.org/tnr-appointment.../live-trap-rental/

If a cat is brought in anything other than a live trap, you will be charged a mandatory fee of $15 for Humane Ohio staff to transfer the cat into a live trap and charged a $80 deposit while the trap is in use during the appointment. You will have 7 days to return the live trap to Humane Ohio, and your deposit of $80 will refunded to you. The carrier the cat was brought in will be held as collateral until the trap is returned.
This change is all about keeping our dedicated staff safe, protecting you as the caretaker, and giving each cat a better chance at a healthier life.
Thanks for your understanding and support as we work to make this process as smooth and safe as possible! ❤🐈 "
