February is Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month, and we had the honor of participating with Love Unmasked, a powerful workshop hosted by Open Arms Transformational Living (OATL).
Last night, we had the privilege of sitting with an incredible group of young women, ages 12–17, and sharing Jazmon's story. Together, we talked about what it means to love yourself fiercely, how to recognize red flags in dating relationships, and why being intentional about who you allow into your life (i.e. access) truly matters, because it could ultimately cost you your life...
There is something especially meaningful about pouring into young people right here in our own community. The conversations, the vulnerability, the hugs, the tears...those moments are sacred. There is nothing quite like them.
A heartfelt thank you to Fonda J Royster for creating such a safe and empowering space. Your advocacy for young people who have experienced domestic violence, who are too often unseen and unheard makes a real difference. Thank you for trusting us to be part of this important work.
Let’s continue the conversation. Talk to the young people in your life about what healthy relationships look like, and what they don’t. Help them understand their worth and help them recognize the warning signs.

The earlier we began to have these conversations the better!
Our young people deserve safe love, and they deserve adults who are willing to speak up.
Healthy relationships for young adults can be confusing. Love is more than just the way you feel, and we're here to help.
