On Sunday, our amazing volunteers joined us at Point Place’s Friendship Park to plant six trees, rain and all! 🍃

A big thank-you to the The College of Wooster Alumni Association who spent their Sunday morning making a positive impact in our community for years to come. 💚

And we’re not done yet! We’ll be planting six more trees at Friendship Park soon, so stay tuned! 🌱

Neighborhoods without tree canopy can be up to 10 degrees hotter than neighborhoods with coverage. During heat waves - this makes a big difference ☀️

That's just one of the reasons we're offering FREE trees to residents of the DeVeaux, Whitmer, Old South End, and Harvard Terrace neighborhoods. Trees are for privately owned properties. We have serviceberries, redbuds, autumn blaze maple, northern red oak, and tulip trees available. 🌳

Last day to request has been extended by one week - last day to request is Friday October 16th. Get your tree! www.ktlcb.org/take/root/Toledo

Pruning trees improves aesthetics while promoting healthier growth and supporting the wellbeing of our shared spaces. 🌳

That’s why we hosted a September Tree Pruning & Maintenance Event in partnership with the City of Toledo! 🍃 Our volunteers learned the ins and outs of tree pruning while gaining new nature knowledge that will help them become better stewards of our environment.

A special thank you to the volunteers from the University of Toledo’s Beta Xi Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi for lending a hand and getting involved in some hands-on tree care! ✨

It’s ! 🍎

Food waste that’s sent to landfills produces methane, a harmful greenhouse gas. In partnership with Metroparks Toledo we have four locations where you can take your food scraps to be composted:

🍋 Glass City Metropark - 901 Front Street
🥕 Toledo Botanical Garden - 5430 W Bancroft Street
🍓 Swan Creek Metropark - 4301 Airport Highway
🥬 Side Cut Metropark Siegert Lake - 2300 W River Road

Happy composting! 🌱 Learn more - www.ktlcb.org/Composting
