East Side Drive-In, c. 1960s

The 1960s were the heydays of drive-in theaters, but few of them are left today. The East Side Drive-In was on Woodville Road at Millbury Road,
as pictured here, but it has now
been gone for more than 30 years. The Park Side Drive-In, however, at 4500 Navarre Ave., across from Pearson Park still exists under the name of the
Sundance.

Our friends at the Oregon Jerusalem Historical Society are excited for our final speaker presentation of the year, Peter Navarre, the Scout. presented by historian Robyn Hage

Robyn will dispel fact from fiction in this interesting talk of our region's national hero. She is a co- author along with Larry Michaels on a book detailing Peter's life. The book will be available for sale at her presentation along with another book Robyn has written called, 250 Toledoans Remembered.

The presentation is free and open to the public. It will be held on Saturday, October 24th at 2:00 pm on the first floor of Brandville School Museum at 1133 Grasser St., in Oregon. Reservations are not required. Refreshments will be served.

This Day in Greater Toledo History: October 19, 1955

Joseph’s Supermarket in Toledo is giving kids a chance to meet a Sioux Indian Chief and TV Star Red Fox. He is appearing for three days at Joseph’s in a promotion for Rath Black Hawk Meats and will have Indian Headdress Bonnets for the kids. Chief Fox says the last time he was in Toledo was in `1896 for Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show.
