Congratulations to our Ursuline Jubilarians, who celebrated milestone years of religious life on Sunday, June 14 with a beautiful liturgy at Christ the King Church followed by a festive luncheon. You are an inspiration as a follower of St. Angela Merici and a servant of our Lord Jesus Christ. May you be blessed as you continue your ministry as Toledo Ursulines.

Today was a historical day in the life of the Ursuline Sisters of Toledo.

At the last General Chapter meeting of the Ursuline Sisters, March 11, 2026, the Ursuline Sisters of Toledo approved of a new form of government for their Community. Today, in a simple, meaningful ceremony which took place in the Ursuline Center Chapel with Ursuline Sisters and Associates and a large number of Sylvania Franciscan Sisters present, Sister Sandy Sherman, present Superior, invited Sister Sharon Derivan, Congregational Minister of the Sylvania Franciscans, and Sister Shannon Schrein, her delegate to the Ursulines, to come forth and assume this Canonical responsibility. A delightful luncheon followed.

Lent calls us to see others the way Christ does.

The ones who are stressed.
The ones trying to make ends meet.
The ones quietly carrying so much.

A little understanding and kindness can go a long way.

Lenten Reflection for Wednesday of the Sixth Week of Lent – April 1

Standing Beneath the Cross – There is so much suffering in our world. Everywhere people stand beneath heartbreaking crosses as they experience the excruciating pain of watching someone suffer. Like Mary (Jesus’ mother) beneath the cross of her beloved son, all that they can do is “be there” and wait with the one who is hurting, offering their love and support…. When we stand by the cross, we do not know what will happen to our loved one… No matter what the outcome, our vigilance can be a powerful experience of deepening our love…. ”Standing” is a way to become more aware, to be present, to develop endurance… When love is the motivation, one can wait beneath a cross for a very, very long time.

Lenten Reflection for Tuesday of the Sixth Week of Lent – March 31

“We all have our likes and dislikes, and perhaps at this very moment we are angry with someone. At least let us say to the Lord: ‘Lord, I am angry with this person, with that person. I pray to you for him and for her.’ To pray for a person with whom I am irritated is a beautiful step forward in love, and an act of evangelization.”

— Pope Francis, Evangelii Gaudium

Lenten Reflection for Monday of the Sixth Week of Lent – March 30

The Lord says, “Here is my servant…the one I have chosen…He will not break off a bent reed nor put out a flickering lamp.” (Isaiah 42: 1;3)

A teacher told Ernest Hemingway, “Forget writing; you’re not that good!” A debate coach told Bishop Sheen, “You’re the worst speaker I ever heard.” Hemingway and Sheen were tough-minded. They overcame the negativism of others. But how many of your people, or people in general, are like that? How many of these people have had their dreams dashed to pieces by the negativism of others? How different was the Lord’s servant, Jesus Christ? He was gentle and sensitive in his dealing with people. He didn’t break off the bent reed. He didn’t s***f out the flickering candle. He was encouraging and supportive. What is one way I am supportive of others in my daily dealings with people?
