We are a group of parents and staff looking for ways to bring more technology to Toledo Middle School Students.
Data has shown that consistent access to technology in classrooms can boost engagement and produce significant gains in student achievement.
Currently Toledo Middle has 30 laptops and 1 computer lab to be shared among 180 students.
Benefits of increasing the number of laptops (chromebooks) at TMS include:
• Differentiated instruction could be further implemented throughout each classroom, giving students the opportunity to learn material tailored to their individual learning level, instead of material that is created to just reach a majority of the students.
• Educators sight a significant improvement in student engagement when technology is incorporated as an adjunct to teaching.
• Encourages interactive learning and collaboration with peers as well as teachers.
• Giving administration flexibility in scheduling state required tests giving students more meaningful time in the classroom.
* Educators will no longer be forced to tailor lessons around their rare opportunities to get into the computer lab, instead they will be able to create computer based interactive learning opportunities whenever it best benefits the students, not the schedule.
Our goal is to raise $16,000 to purchase 60 laptops therefor providing a set of laptops for each grade level. The anticipated lifespan of each chrome book is 5 years resulting in a projected impact to over 900 Toledo Middle School students.
