Are you a stroke survivor or a loved one of a stroke survivor? Perhaps you are home from the hospital and have been dismissed from your out-patient rehabilitation and you are wondering "what now"? The Stroke Life Center is an organization founded by two survivors themselves who felt that life after stroke was not being addressed outside of traditional healthcare and rehabilitation. Thro

ugh our own journey, we have learned that it takes persistence to gain strength and improve your abilities. Join us in learning how to deal with the day-to-day challenges in life after stroke. We have discovered that you can continue to progress each day, living life in a new way. Our vision for the Stroke Life Center is one that includes providing a variety of group classes, fitness programs, and community outings aimed at promoting wellness and positive outcomes. Due to the recent fire at Mercy College, all onsite, in-person Stroke Life Center activities are temporarily postponed until further notice.

Our Stroke Survivor Support Group will continue virtually via Zoom, and our monthly dinner gathering will still take place as scheduled.

The safety of our survivors, caregivers, volunteers, and staff remains our top priority. We will provide updates as more information becomes available.

Thank you to everyone who came out to the Bloom & Brew community Breakfast!
The Bloom and Brew breakfast included information about recognizing stroke with the BEFAST acronym, and a speech from Stroke Life Center's co-founder, Cindy Roshon. This video includes a short clip about her experience with stroke recovery and aphasia.

May is American Stroke Month! This simple infographic from American Stroke Association can be really helpful because it shows the B.E.F.A.S.T. acronym.
It's important that everyone can recognize the signs of stroke.
Balance: Loss of balance, new dizziness
Eyes: sudden changes in vision, including blurriness or double vision
Face: one side of the face drooping or numb
Arms: one arm weak or numb
Speech: Slurred or difficult to understand
Time: Call 911!
