We’re excited to showcase our latest Leaders In Action segment featuring two remarkable individuals making a difference in their communities.

Abirami, an M1 Medical Student at the University of Toledo, is a vital part of BBBSNWO Rocket Nation. She plays an essential role in our Empowering Future Leaders school-year program and STEM Club, inspiring young minds in the world of science and leadership.

Joining her is Jah' Nique, an outstanding member of our STEM Club and a graduate of our 2024 Empowering Future Leaders summer program. Jah' Nique is also a dedicated Junior Board Member of T.I.K (Teens Inspiring Kids) and the Junior Captain of ISDS (Island Swag Dance Squad), showcasing her passion for leadership and the arts.

Together, they are paving the way for future leaders and making a lasting impact. Stay tuned for more stories of inspiration and empowerment.

Abirami Subbinah and Jah'Nique Williams, members of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwest Ohio, join WTOL 11 to explain what the program is all about.

Sometimes a stranger is not the greatest risk to "OUR" children. Most often it is the person invited in the homes for dinner, who's trusted to coach the little league team, sadly leaders within our churches, or even worse the people that live within those walls who are supposed to keep the children SAFE from harm and neglect.

Our why!!

*TIK* (Teens Inspiring Kids) is the Jr. counterpart of *WHEW* (Women Helping Encouraging Women). Now while TIK encounters victims of Domestic and Sexual Assault Violence like *WHEW* TIK takes on a little bit more being a youth ran organization of school age kids which deals with bullying, suicides, and more amongst their peers.

TIK members aim to help peers cope with their anger issues, abstinence from sexual relations, drugs, alcohol, and more! As well as how to be safe in bullying instances, and refrain from physically engaging. Standing up for yourself, and others without infractions, without becoming disorderly, or using obscenity! Through using a system called (AABC) which is what the founder of both *WHEW & TIK* uses in her own home to raise her own children! It stands for (A)ttidude, (A)cademics, (B)ehavior, (C)hores! *TIK* will also use (E)ntertainment, (E)mpowerment, (E)ncouragement & (E)ngagement with their peers, and families!
