We’re excited to showcase our latest Leaders In Action segment featuring two remarkable individuals making a difference in their communities.

Abirami, an M1 Medical Student at the University of Toledo, is a vital part of BBBSNWO Rocket Nation. She plays an essential role in our Empowering Future Leaders school-year program and STEM Club, inspiring young minds in the world of science and leadership.

Joining her is Jah' Nique, an outstanding member of our STEM Club and a graduate of our 2024 Empowering Future Leaders summer program. Jah' Nique is also a dedicated Junior Board Member of T.I.K (Teens Inspiring Kids) and the Junior Captain of ISDS (Island Swag Dance Squad), showcasing her passion for leadership and the arts.

Together, they are paving the way for future leaders and making a lasting impact. Stay tuned for more stories of inspiration and empowerment.

Sometimes a stranger is not the greatest risk to "OUR" children. Most often it is the person invited in the homes for dinner, who's trusted to coach the little league team, sadly leaders within our churches, or even worse the people that live within those walls who are supposed to keep the children SAFE from harm and neglect.

Why don’t children tell about sexual abuse?
There are many reasons children do not disclose being sexually abused, including:
■ Threats of bodily harm (to the child and/or the child’s family)
■ Fear of being removed from the home
■ Fear of not being believed
■ Shame or guilt
