Survivors Remind Us What Hope Looks Like

June is National Cancer Survivors Month, a time to honor, celebrate, and support the more than 18 million cancer survivors in the United States. It is a meaningful reminder of the strength, courage, and resilience shown by survivors and the loved ones who walk beside them.

The month officially begins with National Cancer Survivors Day on the first Sunday in June, which falls on June 7, 2026. Throughout the month, communities across the country also use this time to raise awareness about survivorship, highlight important research, and share valuable resources available to survivors and their families.

At Nightingales Harvest, we are proud to stand with cancer survivors, caregivers, and families by offering support, hope, and community every step of the way.

Ugent: This Week’s Personal Care Needs

Nightingales Harvest is currently in urgent need of toilet paper and antibacterial hand soap for the cancer families we serve.

Next time you are at the store, please consider picking up an extra pack of toilet paper or a bottle of antibacterial hand soap for Nightingales Harvest.

Toilet paper and hand soap are everyday essentials, but for families facing cancer, they are especially important. Keeping basic hygiene items available helps families care for their homes, protect loved ones with weakened immune systems, and avoid one more added expense during an already difficult time.

Every donation helps us continue providing practical support to local cancer families when they need it most.

Donations can be dropped off at Nightingales Harvest inside The Lutheran Church of Our Saviour, 2820 W. Alexis Rd., Toledo, OH 43613

School’s Out for Summer Means More Meals at Home

School is out, and for many families, that means more breakfasts, lunches, snacks, and simple meals are needed at home each day.

Summer routines can be hard on any household, but for a family facing cancer, even a few extra meals each week can make the grocery list feel heavier. Simple, kid-friendly food donations help make those long summer days a little easier.

This is why summer support matters.

Next time you are at the store, consider picking up an extra item or two for Nightingales Harvest. If you have extra jars of peanut butter or jelly in your pantry, those help too.

We are currently collecting kid-friendly, easy meal and snack items such as Chef Boyardee, hot dogs, peanut butter, jelly, yogurt, string cheese, bananas, and other simple foods families can use throughout the summer.

A few extra items may seem small, but for a family facing cancer, they can help make the week a little easier.

Donations can be dropped off at Nightingales Harvest inside The Lutheran Church of Our Saviour, 2820 W. Alexis Rd., Toledo, OH 43613.

The Protein Project: Summer Edition

School is out, and for many families, that means more meals are being made at home every day.

For the cancer families served by Nightingales Harvest, summer can bring added pressure. Children are home for breakfast, lunch, snacks, and dinner, while parents and caregivers may still be managing cancer treatment, medical appointments, fatigue, and the everyday cost of groceries.

This summer, we are asking our community to help us keep easy, family-friendly protein items on our shelves and in our freezers.

Items like hot dogs, ground beef, chicken, lunch meat, cheese, eggs, tuna, canned chicken, peanut butter, and other simple meal staples can make a big difference for a family trying to get through the week.

➡️ A pack of hot dogs can become dinner.
➡️ A pound of ground beef can stretch into several meals.
➡️ Cheese, eggs, and lunch meat can help make quick lunches
➡️ Protein drinks can support someone going through treatment who may be struggling to eat.

Every donation helps us provide comfort and practical support to local families affected by cancer during the summer months.

Donations can be dropped off at Nightingales Harvest, located inside The Lutheran Church of Our Saviour at 2820 W. Alexis Rd., Toledo, OH 43613.

A Beautiful Gift from Timberstone Junior High School

Oh my gosh, how blessed are we?

Nightingales Harvest had the honor of welcoming students, parents, and teachers from Timberstone Junior High School to help with landscaping, and they did such an amazing job.

This wonderful group gave their time, energy, and kindness to make the outside of Nightingales Harvest look beautiful for the cancer patients and families who come to us for pickups.

Every day when we walk outside and see the landscaping work they did, it puts a smile on our faces. Even more importantly, it helps create a welcoming space for the families we serve.

We could not be more thankful for this project and for the kindness behind it.

Memorial Day: A Time to Honor and Remember

This Memorial Day, we pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who gave their lives while serving in the United States Armed Forces.

Their sacrifice is the reason we are able to gather, celebrate, and enjoy time with the people we love. As we spend this weekend with family and friends, may we also take a moment to reflect on the true meaning of Memorial Day and the lives lost in service to our country.

From all of us at Nightingales Harvest, we wish you a safe and meaningful Memorial Day weekend.

Hands That Give Hope

We recently visited St. John Lutheran Church - Williston in Williston, Ohio, and our hearts are full. ♥

For the past five years, the quilting ladies at St. John’s have been part of the Nightingales Harvest family in such a meaningful way. With loving hands and giving hearts, they create handmade quilts for our new cancer patients, giving them something warm and comforting to cuddle with during treatment.

They blessed our families again with an incredible donation: 41 handmade quilts, cases of toilet paper, tuna, Chef Boyardee, canned vegetables, hand soap, dish soap, and other much-needed items for our Cancer Family Pantry.

This is what community looks like.

It is hands cutting fabric, stitching pieces together, loading donations, praying over families, and giving from the heart. It is people showing up year after year because they believe cancer families should feel supported, cared for, and never alone.

To the beautiful ladies of St. John’s Lutheran Church, thank you for the time, love, and care you pour into every quilt and every donation. Each item helps meet a practical need, but each quilt carries something even deeper: comfort, warmth, and love from one family to another.

We are so grateful for your continued support of Nightingales Harvest and the cancer families we serve across Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan.

The Heart Behind Mexican Fiesta: A Look Back on a Night Filled with Purpose

Looking back on our Mexican Fiesta Charity Event, we are reminded of what made the evening so special: the people, the purpose, and the community that came together for local cancer families.

The night was filled with great food, raffles, music, dancing, generous sponsors, and so many familiar faces showing up for a cause that truly matters.

As CEO and Founder Lisa Kornbach-Eisenbach shared that evening, Mexican Fiesta is about supporting local cancer families during treatment. Every sponsor, ticket, raffle item, donation, and shared moment helps keep that mission moving forward.

To everyone who attended, sponsored, donated, purchased raffle tickets, volunteered, shared the event, or helped make the evening possible, thank you. Your support helps keep our mission moving forward and reminds local cancer families that they are not facing this journey alone.

A special thank you to Jayson Hines with Sales Funnel Marketing for capturing the energy, joy, and purpose of the evening so beautifully.
