Meow, Meow! It's Wishlist Wednesday!

Hello, hoomans! It's your favorite furry residents at Paws and Whiskers Cat Shelter, and we've got a little favor to ask!

You see, we work VERY hard around here. Between knocking litter out of our boxes, getting our blankets covered in fur, and keeping our humans on their toes, we've managed to run low on a few essentials!

Here's what our humans are begging us to ask for this week:

🐾 Tall Kitchen Trash Bags – Apparently, all the messes we make have to go somewhere. Who knew?

Electrolytes – Sometimes we need a little extra help staying hydrated and feeling our best. Healthy kitties are happy kitties!

Liquid Laundry Detergent – We personally think a little cat hair makes everything better, but our humans insist on washing our blankets and towels. ALL. THE. TIME.

These might not be fancy toys or delicious treats, but they help keep our temporary home clean, cozy, and comfortable while we wait for our forever families!

Home update! 🏡💚.. Now that we know you love updates as much as we do, we will keep them coming!

We received this update on this beautful girl, her love of kleenex and her kitty momma allowing her to do what makes her happy made us laugh and fills us with joy! This is truly what it's all about for us.

“Darcy (Darla) has been with me for 6 months now. She hid for her first few weeks and kept her distance for a few months. She just needed time and is a very affectionate kitty. She has favorite spots all over the house. She has also discovered that boxes of Kleenex are great toys. She emptied a whole box, one tissue at a time. She's a good girl. I let her have her space. And a couple hundred kleenex.”

Thank you for adopting Diane and for giving this great girl her loving home, the patience and time she needed to adjust. Being patient, allowing time to adjust on their own results in the best rewards!

We asked and many of you answered! You gave great suggestions and we are going to try to make each of them happen! We are looking into adding a Paws Kitty Watch Cam! One camera that will travel around our free roaming rooms.. our goal is to have it linked for 24/7 viewing with the live feed link available on our website. We will update you as we figure out the details.

We thought you might enjoy this late in the work day energy boost! The cats in the video are currently in our intake area undergoing their observation/quarantine period and waiting on their turn for spay/neuter- they are not yet available for adoption.

Oliver wanted to come introduce himself to our Facebook friends! 🐾

You may remember this adorable face from a previous post—Oliver was dumped at our door with a dozen other cats and kittens. While their sudden arrival threw us for a loop, we immediately jumped into action to get them the love and medical care they desperately needed.

Oliver had the toughest journey of the bunch. An untreated upper respiratory infection had led to a severe eye infection. While waiting for him to gain enough weight for surgery, his eye ruptured, and he was rushed in for an emergency enucleation.

The best news? This hasn’t slowed Oliver down one bit!

Oliver is an absolute joy. He loves playing with other cats, hanging out with his human friends, and soaking up all the cuddles he can get. And thanks to our pup Volunteer Duke and his medical foster Momma, we know Oliver doesn’t mind pups and can be considered dog friendly! His tiny "pirate" look only adds to his charm and resilient spirit!

HEY PAWS FAMILY… WE HAVE A QUESTION FOR YOU! (We aren’t sure why we just yelled that, but lets go with it)

Let's face it, shelter life is BUSY! Between caring for our kitties, cleaning, feeding, medications, vet appointments, surgical days, adoptions, intaking and the million other things that happen in a day, finding time to create fun Facebook content sometimes falls to the bottom of our very long to-do list! 😅

But today, while looking around at all our crazy kitties playing, chasing toys, causing mischief, and carrying on with their daily shenanigans, we had a thought…

**HOW IS THIS NOT A REALITY TV SHOW?!** (no, joke..we actually ask each other this exact question multiple times a week) We can see it now, “The real lives of.. or even better somedays it’s like we’re on “Survivor”.

Seriously, the entertainment around here is FREE, the kitty drama is daily, and the cast is constantly changing!

And that got us thinking…

Home update! 🏡💚 We love hearing about life at home and we love sharing these happy updates with you! Cliffs kitty Momma Hayley sent us these adorable photos and a wonderful update:

“Little 6 month update from Cliff! He is living his absolute best life! He has a very special bond with my 4 year old and we love our crazy, and mischievous boy! He is the stealer of alll the yeti spaghetti noodles”.

Now that Fall is here, Kitten Season is winding down. Although we may not be intaking as many 8 week old nursing babies, we still have our hands full with older kittens waiting for their forever homes!

Often times, older kittens are overlooked by adopters in favor of their younger, smaller roommates. Being 5 or 6 months old doesn't mean they're "grown up" — they still zoom, pounce, play, and curl up on your chest when it’s naptime. The only difference? They’ve had a little extra time to grow into the most loving companions imaginable.

For three decades, we’ve been able to provide compassion, second chances, and forever homes to cats in need, and we could never have done it without YOU.
