Attention Coaches:

We have decided to use the hard copy version for the new NWOABL Parent Waiver Form. We were contemplating using an electronic DocuSign, but to prevent a lot of confusion & questions we are moving in this direction. We know many you are currently practicing & some even playing in a tournament this weekend. Please get the Parent Waiver Form out to your parents. We are asking teams to bring the signed forms to the scheduling meeting on Monday June 1st. As we begin league play on June 8, this form is MANDATORY for the player to participate in the league. No FORM = No Playing!!! We will be checking that all players on all teams have a signed form. We appreciate your compliance with this during this unique time.
This is not the same form as Nations as many of you have inquired about for playing in tournaments. To play in a Nations tournament, you must also sign the Parent Approval Form that is on the nations website.

HI Coaches,

We are all excited to start the baseball season! We have decided to move the league scheduling meeting to Monday June 1st.

June 1st / Carter Park outdoor pavilion

6pm - 8U/9U/10U
7pm - 11U/12U
8pm - 13U/14U

There are a couple of reasons for this change…. The first one being many of our teams do not currently have home fields available to schedule games. We have heard from some complexes and they are hoping to have answers by June 1st as to field availability.

We also still have not heard from all of the teams as to whether or not you will be playing this season. We cannot finalize divisions until we hear from everyone. Please email me at [email protected] if you have not done so already.

Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

Hi Coaches,

We received good news today from the governor today! We are all excited to be able to get back and play baseball again but still have to wait and see what the requirements will be for return to play. There is another press conference tomorrow at 2pm to address some of those topics. We are meeting as commissioners tomorrow and putting a final plan together for the 2020 NWAOBL season!

Points that we know right now:

- Waiver will be required for all players to participate
- Another scheduling meeting will happen
- Teams will get practice time before games start
- League games will run into late July

We will send out another communication by Saturday at 5pm with the details on the upcoming season! Thanks for your patience while we work hard to put this together.

Hi Coaches,

Above all, we hope that this message finds your family healthy and safe. Please know that through all of this, you all have been in our thoughts and prayers. This has been such a challenging time for everyone.

We have been meeting as a league to try and find the best path forward to keep everyone safe and play baseball. Our first return to play date of May 11th will NOT happen as the Governor has put youth sports into Phase #2 of reopening and no date has been set as of today. We have been monitoring all news and dates from across the country to see what returning to play would look like and understand that there will be many challenges including field availably. Today we received this news:

Ohio Dept. of Health Order Closing School Facilities

A major announcement yesterday was the Director of the Ohio Dept. of Health’s order that all school buildings will be closed through June 30, 2020. Through a call to the ODH, it was clearly stated that this extends to all school facilities as well and includes stadiums, baseball/softball diamonds and tracks. This clearly prohibits all schools from making their facilities available to club/travel/non-interscholastic sports during this mandatory shut-down.

This is not the news any of us wanted….We do understand that not everyone uses school fields to play/practice but we feel that many municipalities will follow this same directive in the coming days. We are still evaluating what a modified season would look like and are committed to find a way to play baseball this summer!

Please note the following:

- We will have another scheduling meeting once we get dates on return to play

- We will give teams approximately two weeks of practice time before games will be played

- League games will be played through the end of July for sure (maybe into Aug.)

- Do not practice until we get the all clear (player safety is the #1 concern)

- All participants will have to sign another waiver to play this season

- We are all in this together! We will play baseball again!

We most certainly appreciate your patience during this process and please know we hope to have further communication out as soon as we get it!
Thanks again for your continued support and trust.

All of us continue to have our lives changed by the global COVID-19 pandemic. There has been very little new information from our governing bodies; however, the US government, Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) and local and state authorities have continued to restrict activities and will seemingly continue for the foreseeable future.

We anticipate more information and direction at that time concerning play beyond April 30th. Recently other youth organizations such as U.S. Youth Soccer/Ohio Valley Region Volleyball announced their suspension of activities. This note is to officially announce that the league season will be pushed back to May 11th start date. We will also extend the season through July if need be. At this point we feel that baseball will still be played this summer!

NWOABL will continue to monitor and update our teams. Our Board of Directors have been communicating to discuss options. We are in a sit and wait phase of the quarantine and we understand that parents are asking what is next. This is a fluid situation and things can change very quickly we will keep everyone informed as soon as decisions are made.

We commend those of you who continue to reach out through social media to your players and coaches with information, fun challenges and support. Times like this can be stressful for our players and families and while we can’t participate in active in-person sessions, your interactions are extremely meaningful and give a sense of community.

Our main priority is the safety and well-being of everyone. Governor DeWine’s actions have been aggressive because stopping the spread of COVID-19 is extremely important. Thus, please do your part to help flatten the curve.

SBA/Disaster Loan Program
NWOABL recognizes that that the global COVID-19 pandemic is creating stress and financial hardships for many. The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) has created the COVID-19: Small Business Guidance & Loan Resources for those anticipating financial hardship caused by the pandemic.

Loans are available to small businesses and private, non-profit organizations in designated areas of a state or territory to help alleviate economic injury caused by COVID-19.
