Genacross Lutheran Services Foundation The Foundation manages fundraising and investment resources for current and future ministry needs.

Since its founding, Genacross Lutheran Services has continued to expand to meet the needs of people in northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan. Today, Genacross annually serves more than 3,500 people of all ages and supports various community programs that are in keeping with our mission of service. But none of this would be possible without the generous support of our donors who share in our mission. That is where the Genacross Lutheran Services Foundation comes in. The Foundation is responsible for helping donors who would like to join in the Genacross mission — whether through a single, one-time gift or through planned giving. We ensure that all gifts are used for their intended purpose and provide a point of contact for donors who would like to see the difference their gifts have made.

We are very appreciative of the grant we received from the Sandusky County Communities Foundation, Inc. The grant is for our Luther Meadow senior community in Gibsonburg, Ohio, and Manager Miranda Zurcher and Service Coordinator Jessica Welty accepted the check from SCCF Executive Director Jesse Stock at the 2026 Celebration of Philanthropy event.

This grant will be used to enhance outdoor and indoor gathering spaces for our residents and clients of the Gibsonburg Senior Center, operated by the Great Lakes Community Action Partnership (GLCAP) at Luther Meadow. We are so grateful for the grant and the support of our amazing community partners.

Congratulations to Ethan Brown, who currently works as a STNA in the Health Center at the Genacross Lutheran Services-Napoleon Campus, for being the latest recipient of the Carl W. Klein Jr. Scholarship for Staff Development. Mike George, Executive Director of the Foundation, recently presented Ethan with a check that will support his education at Northwest State Community College, where Ethan is studying to become a registered nurse. Genacross is excited to play a role in his academic journey!

"Mary" has been living in a Bavarian Village independent living condominium on Genacross' Napoleon Campus for several years. Recently, she came to the campus' Health Center in poor health. She was weak, withdrawn and struggling with day-to-day activities. Through consistent nursing care, therapy services, encouragement from staff members, family support, and her own determination, Mary began to improve. Today, she is thriving. She smiles more, interacts with others, and enjoys a level of independence and quality of life that once seemed out of reach.

A recent study showed Ohio has the sixth highest percentage of seniors who struggle with not having enough food. Take "Ezekiel" for example. Before he moved into an assisted living apartment on the Wolf Creek Campus, he struggled to eat healthy meals regularly. Ezekiel had a neighbor who often invited him to dinner, but it was not enough. He was down to 100 pounds when he arrived at the Wolf Creek Campus. With the help of a better diet, regular meals, and therapy, Ezekiel has gained weight and strength and is no longer dependent on a wheelchair to get around.

Every day, the Genacross Family & Youth Services program provides hope to youth in crisis. Take "Alicia" for example. When she arrived, Alicia frequently displayed verbal and physical aggression and destroyed property. Significant developmental needs combined with year of challenges had left this young girl, who loves animals and coloring, functioning at the level of a 5-year-old. Through dedicated treatment and support from Genacross caregivers and close collaboration with her family, Alicia began to engage more positively with others. By the time she left Genacross, she had made great strides and learned the tools she needed to thrive at home.
