The Hungarian Club of Toledo is looking for volunteers to bake Hungarian cookies on June 17 from 9:30am at 224 Paine Ave Toledo, OH 43605.
Please check your calendar and if you are available for a couple of hours that morning and interested to help please write in the comments so we can plan accordingly. No experience is necessary! This is also an opportunity for you to learn and practice some skills while helping us to make Hungarian cookies with apricot, raspberry or walnut filling.

Thank you to the large volunteer crew who helped us at the Hungarian Club of Toledo on our June 3rd Hungarian cookie baking day! It was great to welcome many new volunteers who came the first time!
Many of them do not have Hungarian heritage but they saw our Facebook post and found out that we need help and offered to lend a hand while also learning something new and meeting new people. When we visited them when with the Belarusian business delegation it looked like they had a great time. We appreciate the help of the following volunteers: Marlene Danko, Carl Peatee Jr, Carl Peatee Sr, Betty Ujvagi, Marilyn Wuest, Chuck Juhasz, Kathy Brown, Vicki Witham, Jenny Wilson, Annette Pickerd, Carrie Krantz, Carol Deinzer, Anne Gothier, Maria G. Almaguer, Leslie Habegger, Nancy Feher McLaughlin, Nick Mester, and Audrey Hannafius.
Have we missed anyone?

Our next volunteer baking days for Hungarian cookies will be on June 17, July 1st and 15 from 9:30am. Please check your calendar and pencil in if you can help! We will have a separate post about each of these days when we will ask you to write in the comments if you plan to come to help!

Special thanks to Peter Ujvagi for his assistance to the COIL Belarusian business delegation to visit the Hungarian Club of Toledo today! These guests are living as immigrants from Belarus now living in Poland and where they already established small businesses. Peter explained to them how the Hungarian immigrants after 1957 felt when they arrived in Toledo. There are some similarities and the guests may also realize that for the first generations and their children establishing an organization which helps them to maintain their ethnic heritage, language, culture etc. is very useful. While today was a very busy workday at the club with lots of volunteers baking Hungarian cookies, these guests very much understood the Hungarian spirit and belonging during their visit! Thank you very much all the volunteers for your help today, you showed a great example.
We will share better photos later but we publish some now so we can highlight that this visit could be inspirational and we may motivate some of the guests to think about a similar small community space for the future.
Thank you to the leaders of the Club and all volunteers for welcoming our guests!

Reminder!! Thank you to those of you who offered to volunteer to help baking Hungarian cookies on Wednesday June 3rd from 9:30 am at the Hungarian Club of Toledo 224 Paine Ave, Toledo, OH 43605! We need all the helping hands so the work will be done so much faster, so we count on you! Those who cannot help this time may be able to come and help on June 17, or on July 1st or July 15th. As more people asked about our June 20th Hungarian Pork Festival we would like to clarify, if weather allows it will be a great outdoor program with lots of the bacon items that we had at our previous years at our Beer and Bacon Festival plus more pork BBQ options at the Hungarian Club of Toledo 224 Paine Ave, Toledo, OH 43605.
Dogs are not allowed so please do not bring along to this family friendly event!

Thank you to everyone who came to our last Tuesday Trivia night to the Hungarian Club of Toledo today before our summer break! We had a fun night with good food and drinks! For organizing and hosting these events and for the great trivia questions we thank Jim and Julie McCann!!
