The October 31, 2026 deadline is fast approaching. Sharing on behalf of Aux. 2898’s Scholarship Chairman Becky Dombrowski - Post and Auxiliary 2898 will both be awarding monetary prizes to the winning students! Applications available at 3925 W. Alexis Road, Toledo. Tap on photo for details!

Middle and high school students have until Oct. 31 to enter the VFW’s Voice of Democracy and Patriot’s Pen contests for a share of more than $2.5 million in awards.

Tomorrow Saturday 10-10-26, Youth Group Member will be drawing a winner for the PATRIOTIC Garden Stone! Last chance to get a raffle ticket for a $5 DONATION. Thanks again to brother Robert Pierson for the donation to our VFW 2898 Youth Group. Proceeds to go toward the veteran programs that our youth support! Tickets are available at the canteen.

Sign up your children/grandchildren (up to age 12) ASAP. Make plans now for the parking lot Trunk or Treat too and mark your calendars now for the Adult Halloween Party ON Halloween, 10/31/26, starting at 7:00 pm. Happy Halloween!

Auxiliary Treasurer, Ada Mayhew, had the privilege of meeting the National Commander of the Military Order of the Cootie (MOC / MOCA) this weekend at Founder’s Day in Columbus.

The Military Order of the Cootie (MOC) is a service organization within the VFW, often called its “honor degree.” Its main purpose is to bring comfort, companionship, and cheer to hospitalized veterans and those living in veterans’ homes. Its motto is “Keep ’em Smiling in Beds of White.”

On September 29, 1899, 14 veterans gathered in a small tailor shop in Columbus, Ohio, with a shared purpose: to stand up for fellow veterans and their families.

127 years later, that commitment lives on. We were proud to come together for Founders Day and honor the veterans whose dedication began the VFW’s legacy of service. 🇺🇸
