VFW Post 2898 and the Auxiliary are excited to announce that it's time once again for the 2026-2027 Voice of Democracy Scholarship Program!

Parents, grandparents, and teachers — are you looking for a meaningful summer project for your high school students?Encourage them to participate in one of the VFW's best scholarship competitions and earn the opportunity to win thousands of dollars in scholarships!

📝 This Year's Theme:

"What a Veteran Taught Me About America"

👨‍🎓 Who Can Participate?

Students in grades 9-12 enrolled in public, private, parochial, or home schools. We are seeking students in the Toledo, OHIO area.

*** These students do NOT have to have a military member that has served. The scholarship is open to everyone****

🎤 What Do Students Have To Do?

Participants record a 3-5 minute original audio essay based on this year's theme. This is a great opportunity for students to: ✅ Improve public speaking skills
✅ Learn more about veterans and American history
✅ Strengthen college scholarship applications
✅ Compete for scholarships at the local, district, state, and national levels.

💰 Scholarship Opportunities

The VFW awards more than $2 million in scholarships and incentives nationwide, including a national first-place scholarship of $35,000!

All entries must be submitted to our Post by October 31, 2026.
