Yesterday by a 96% yes vote, the North Georgia Conference affirmed the vote already taken in the South Georgia Conference —- unification is real, one Georgia United Methodist Church!

The UM Commission has been blessed to be a place of collaboration between these two great conferences for 76 years in support of our Wesley Foundations and Colleges across the state. We are so strong together and we know that God will bless this step of faith!

From Young Harris in the north to Valdosta in the south, UWG in the West to Georgia Southern in the east, and 15 other ministries to students in between, we are truly one body. What a wonderful and historic day!

Here’s an outstanding part time campus ministry position for the right person, called to working with college students! GGC is an amazing place, and GGC Wesley is willing to have conversation about ways this role might be partnered with an additional local congregation position to create something full time. Please share with those who might be a fit!

Resumes and letters of interest should be sent to Board Chair, Caleb Clark, [email protected]

A great article about the incomparable Lesley Chapin Baskette!

When Lesley Baskette reflects on her thirty-two years of ministry with the Georgia UMCommission she focuses on one thing: the people. It has been relationships that grounded her and gave meaning to her work.

In her early years, Lesley worked mostly behind the scenes, a role she loved. She built systems that would later serve as models beyond the Georgia Conferences. Over time, her work expanded. She began visiting United Methodist colleges, attending Annual Conferences, and connecting face-to-face with Wesley Foundation directors, students, Commission board members, and clergy.

Lesley’s legacy is found in the steady way she showed up. She has done the work well, cared deeply about people, and stayed when staying mattered. As she enters retirement, the relationships she helped build will remain a lasting part of this ministry’s life and success.

Thank you, Lesley, for all the ways you have served so faithfully!
