On Wednesday May 20th, our former Crew 940 Vice Presidents and Waterfront Alumni, Alex Dillon, Commissioned into the Pennsylvania Army National Guard as a Second Leutenant. He will be serving as an Air Defense Artillery Officer in the 28th Infantry Division, 56th Mobile Brigade Combat Team

Over the weekend Crew 940 (Philmont group) hiked and camped on the Appalachian Trail for our second practice trek. We started at the Bake Oven K**b parking lot and headed toward our campsite. We hiked for a couple hours, took a pack break and explored Bear Rock. Had lunch off the trail and landed in our campsite where we set up, filtered water for dinner (Thanksgiving dinner in a bag), and enjoyed our down time. We also had fun placing our bear bag. Sunday morning we woke up to rain, packed in the rain, and hiked back in the rain putting our Scouting skills to use. The crew had 4 adults and 5 youth in attendance.

Venture Crew 940 would like to congratulate one of our very own members Josh Katz for recently becoming a Marine. Josh has worked on Camp staff at Waterfront as a Lifeguard and is an Eagle Scout.

Crew 940 had a very successful work day here at Camp Minsi. We had 8 adults and 8 youth. We successfully cleaned up 5 loads of bucked up firewood around camp with our new dump trailer, cleaned up firewood in campsites, split a cord of firewood, cleaned up our firewood processing area, had a great lunch made by chef Jammie, helped the Ranger tag dead trees in areas and ended our day cleaning up old overhead wire behind the shop.

Crew 940 would like to recognize a past Crew president from the late 90's - early 2000's. Please help us congratulate Vinnie Tallarico as of today he is officially retired from the US Air Force after nearly 22 years. Vinnie is notably a top recruiter in the Air Force being stationed in New Jersey, New York, Utah, and Texas.

Vinnie helped to shape and mold the first year camper program known as TTA, worked in scoutcraft, and known for his all around, easy going personality. Vinnie is also an Eagle Scout from Troop 302 Bethlehem.

Congratulations Vinnie, enjoy retirement 🇺🇸

During our December Crew weekend and Christmas break the Crew Officers ahead planned for all fun and non service weekend. We went to Big Screen Escapes in Mt. Pocono.

Adults vs youth. The Adults played Nuclear Family and escaped just in time before the bomb went off with just 11 minutes and 44 seconds left. The youth played Solitude being stuck in a cabin with a 100 year snow storm. They never made it out and the snow piled up too quickly.

This was our highest attendance Crew weekend in years and to celebrate such success this past year. This was such a fun treat for everyone.

Crew 940 has had a very busy fall. From splitting firewood in September, to supporting Councils Fall Family Day Camp in October, to selling Mr. Pastie fundraiser for Philmont, to splitting more firewood this weekend and ending with our Friendsgiving Turkey Special, we here at Crew 940 are blessed to have so many Youth and Adults to give back to Scouting, Program, Minsi Trails Council, and our home base for over 50 years Camp Minsi. We wish you and your family a Happy Thanksgiving .

Thank you to all who supported us and our Mr. Pastie fundraiser. The crew made around $800 to help us with our Philmont 2026 fund and also the crews general account for future support of council, camp, and program.
