Tivoli Fire Department & Tivoli Library Present: “Odd Hours, No Pay, Cool Hat”

📅 Monday, October 19th
⏰ 6:00 PM
📍 Tivoli Firehouse
🎟️ FREE & OPEN TO EVERYONE!

The Tivoli Fire Department is teaming up with the Tivoli Free Library to bring our community a special PBS documentary, “Odd Hours, No Pay, Cool Hat,” which explores the challenges, dedication, and vital role volunteer firefighters play in communities across the country.

This event is for all ages and is a great opportunity for families and community members to learn more about the volunteer fire service and the important role it plays in keeping our community safe.

After the documentary, our firefighters will give a tour of the fire trucks, equipment, and tools used every day in the fire service. We will also spend some time going over fire prevention and fire safety, providing valuable information that everyone can use to help keep themselves, their families, and their homes safe.

Light refreshments will be provided, and we’ll have information available for anyone interested in learning more about volunteering with the Tivoli Fire Department and becoming part of the team that protects our community.

Bring the family, come meet your local firefighters, learn about fire safety, see the equipment we use, and discover what it means to be a volunteer firefighter.

We hope to see you at the firehouse on October 19th at 6:00 PM! 🚒🔥

Thank you to everyone who attended our Annual Chicken BBQ today. Despite the dreary weather conditions we served 300 meals to another sold out crowd!! Your continued support means so much to our volunteer firefighters and helps us to continue serving our community.

A special thank you goes out to Migliorelli Farm and Williams Lumber & Home Centers for their generous donations to our event and to all of our company members who worked so hard to make this event happen. From preparing and cooking the food to serving, setup, and cleanup, it takes a tremendous amount of teamwork and dedication to pull this event off. We truly appreciate everyone who volunteered their time. Many of these members who served the community today had been up all night running multiple calls in our district.

The second round of V-FIRE grants has been announced to help volunteer departments with capital needs, and I was thrilled to join with Commissioner Terence O'Leary to celebrate their $1 million award!

Ever since a devastating fire destroyed the firehouse in 2019, has been working to rebuild, and this grant will help make that a reality, along with establishing a regional command center to strengthen emergency response operations.

Our volunteer firefighters put their lives on the line for our communities. They should never have to do this incredibly demanding and dangerous work without safe and modern equipment. We created V-FIRE for this exact reason - to help departments make these vital, yet costly, investments and lower the financial burden on local taxpayers who rely on their services.

V-FIRE grants in SD-41 counties:

🚒Tivoli Fire Department (Dutchess County): $1 million
🚒Kerhonkson Fire District (Ulster County): $388,050
🚒Lebanon Valley Protective Association (Columbia County): $96,554
🚒Village of Catskill Fire Department (Greene County): $90,669
🚒Stuyvesant Falls Fire District (Columbia County): $58,000

Congratulations to all of the departments selected in this second round! More good news to share - we secured another $25 million for V-FIRE this year, so the third round of the program is coming soon!

🚒 EXCITING NEWS FOR THE TIVOLI FIRE DEPARTMENT! 🚒

Today, the Tivoli Fire Department was honored to receive truly spectacular news. Our volunteer fire department has been awarded $1 million in capital funding through Governor Kathy Hochul and the New York State Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services (DHSES) V-FIRE Grant Program. This transformational investment will help move us one step closer to the long-awaited expansion of our firehouse and will strengthen our ability to provide emergency services to the residents and visitors of Tivoli for years to come.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Senator Michelle Hinchey for her continued support of volunteer fire departments and for helping make this funding opportunity possible. We also thank DHSES Commissioner Terry O’Leary and everyone involved with the V-FIRE Grant Program for recognizing the importance of investing in volunteer emergency services. Having so many of our dedicated members present for today’s announcement made this moment even more special.

This $1 million award is a major milestone for the Tivoli Fire Department and our entire community. With this funding secured, we are closer than ever to moving forward with the bidding process and reaching our overall fundraising goal for the firehouse expansion.

To our members, supporters, community partners, local businesses, residents, and public officials — thank you for believing in the Tivoli Fire Department and supporting our volunteers. For more than 100 years, our members have answered the call when our community needs us, and this project will help ensure we can continue doing so well into the future.

As we enter this exciting final stretch, we ask our community to continue supporting the firehouse expansion. Every contribution, large or small, brings us one step closer to making this vision a reality.

Thank you for standing behind the Tivoli Fire Department and the volunteers who serve our community.

🚒 100+ years of volunteer service — and building for the next 100.
