August is 'Tree-Check Month'. TNC & other environmental groups along with the USDA encourage the public to check trees for signs of the Asian Longhorned Beetle and the Emerald Ash Borer.
Check out our link of what to look for and then go to our blog "Conservancy Talk" and learn how to prevent this pest from invading Rhode Island.

Our effort to protect Tiverton’s coastal forest took another step forward yesterday!

With assistance from RIDEM and The Champlin Foundations, the Conservancy purchased a 132-acre forest tract this morning at Cliff farm. Nearly 1,400 acres of this forest is now in the good care of our conservation partnership that includes The Nature Conservancy, The Town of Tiverton's Open Space Commission, Tiverton Land Trust, and Rhode Island DEM.

We are very excited about this accomplishment and we will be working on public access to this fantastic area. Check back soon for updates regarding new hiking trails through this area.
