Currently at 217 uniforms shipped across the country at " no charge"
On that note ...PLEASE do NOT contact us looking for a "FREE UNIFORM" . THEY DO NOT EXIST.
First, every service member has to buy everything including the uniform . We are responsible for maintaining it..if something is needed ..we replace it they don't.
Second ..forget the concept of money.
The honor that comes with wearing that uniform comes from dedication, commitment, and massive amounts of personal sacrifice. That sacrifice takes years off of our lives to add years to those that enjoy our protection. All of our uniforms were donated by families that not only understand this, but continue to serve this country by donating theirs to properly honor those that need it before they do.
While I understand some people who have not been in a military environment do not see the difference between " no charge" and "free" every last one of us that signed that contract and then survived it know EXACTLY what the difference is...
I started this years ago with one solitary Marine passing away in a nursing home . No family..to speak for him or to take care of his final arrangements ....and the right people came together to honorably send him off.
But it wasn't free
It was all sacrifice .

Good Evening,
Due to our recent move we are forced to rebuild the Footlocker bit by bit . Combined with very important matters We will need to supend operations for possibly the next two weeks. We are sincerely sorry for any inconveniences this may cause but it is entirely necessary for us to continue our service to the entire country...Seeing as the Atlanta VA recently contacted us looking for USMC blues......
That being said , I will post immediate updates as they occur
Thank you for your continued support ,
Jerry

Good Afternoon
So far so good...and then there's today.
Just got off the phone with the ATLANTA VA.
They were calling to help a very recently widowed spouse locate a burial uniform . They went on the Internet, found a news article and called. My first thought was to get the widow taken care of and this is one of two Marines that I have been contacted about in the past 24 hours. My second thought...Of all organizations to contact me about a burial uniform is the VA WHO SHOULD BE HANDLING THIS IN THE FIRST PLACE. Doug Collins was given my info over a year ago so that we could discuss the VA taking care of this instead of us. Condensed version ..The VA would rather have a private citizen handle the tab on a 2000$ Marine Corps Uniform instead of them.
I decided to go through my recent pics..25 uniforms on the average of 2 k apiece within the last 2 years MARINES ONLY..That's a little over 50kin two years just on Marines.
Think I need to go mow the yard and blow off some steam...

Good morning everyone
Dover Detail has completed its move to its new home and now the work begins. We have acquired a 40x12 building and placed it on DAV Chapter 109's back lot . For the last two months we have been drawing DTRT down and have now closed it forever. That being said our cash flow has been pretty much eliminated and we still have a ton of work to do.As much as I hate to do this I am now asking for your help. I am posting a QR code for the purpose of donating funds to get our building set up right and get back to work. To be clear we have continued to provide uniforms during this time but it's been extremely difficult to do so. With your help( no..there is no "Whisper of the Angels" playing in the background ) we can get everything done and set up properly. I hate doing fundraisers but if there was ever a time ..this is it. Thank You in advance for your help.

Been awhile since I posted on this page as I mostly use my personal page for posting then share to this one
As of Saturday, the Dover Detail provided it's 200th uniform to lay a USMC Lance Corporal to rest. We started this endeavor in March 2021 with a lone Marine out of a nursing home with no family.Over the years, Dover has supplied full and complete Era accurate Dress Uniforms for all branches at no charge to the families including shipping. While do accept donations ..which mostly go to shipping, the family is NEVER under any obligation for any financial payment at any time.
Yes,money helps, but our primary focus is dress uniform items . If you have anything from the dress cover to the patent leather shoes, we will gladly accept them . Contact us at the doverdetail.org , find the link for uniform donations and follow the instructions. On that note , ALL donated items are kept under lock and key until they are requested for burial. At an average cost of around 2,000$ ( replacement value for a new uniform) Dover has saved families over 400,000$ after Funeral homes and Venues have cleaned out the bank account. The phone call to Dover winds up being the last one the family has to make. This winds up taking a tremendous amount of stress and anxiety off the family's shoulders during one of the most stressful times of their lives. From the very beginning we have repeated lobbied members of Congress to make the burial uniform part of the benefit extended to vets when the time comes. Too many times me we have taken calls from families who were convinced the VA supplies the uniform . The only thing the VA will supply you with when asked, is our phone number. Try it. Call the VA and ask for f they know anyone that provides a full burial uniform shipped at no charge. Then give me a call. Since the VA and the DoD cannot figure out who is going to pay for it, I'll continue to do it. New developments have come to light and once I get some calls back I'll post it here.
It is my opinion and position that the final use for any dress uniform is to lay a deceased veteran to rest in and nothing else.
Stay tuned ....

Everyday, our military veterans pass away without family or friends who are able to help coordinate their final arrangements, especially when it comes to their final dress, honoring their proud military service as they are laid to rest. Our veterans, their family and/or friends may not have access t...
