20 years was only the beginning. ❤️

A few days ago we celebrated the 20th anniversary of Centaurus.

20 years ago nobody believed this would work. We were students. People laughed at us and said that building a horse sanctuary in Poland made no sense. They said nobody would support rescued horses here. They said it would all collapse after a few months.

Back then we were dividing one carrot between 21 rescued horses, walking around neighborhoods with volunteers carrying sacks for oats and vegetables. We were not rich. We had no big sponsors, no investors and no idea how huge this story would become.

Today nearly 1500 horses live under our care and more than 3000 have already been rescued. Thousands of other animals found help because of people like you.

A few days ago we celebrated this anniversary together and these photos show both the very beginning of our Foundation and the people who create Centaurus today. Old memories, old photos and the faces of people who continue this story every single day.

But the truth is that after 20 years we still feel exactly the same responsibility.

Because rescue never truly ends.

The animals who are already here still need food, treatment, diagnostics, hay, straw, safe shelters and people who will continue fighting for them every day.

And maybe that is why this anniversary feels so emotional for us.

Because Centaurus was built from absolutely nothing.
From crazy dreams.
From students nobody believed in.
From people who simply refused to walk away from suffering.

Today we want to ask you to enter the next 20 years together with us.

Even a small donation can help our animals start this new chapter differently than we started 20 years ago.

Thank you for every year, every message, every rescue, every shared post and every moment you stayed with us. ❤️

Over these 20 years we met thousands of people.

Some helped us.
Some tried to stop us.
But the first group was always much bigger.

We watched rescued horses grow old with us. Some were born in our sanctuary after we rescued their mothers from slaughter. Some spent their entire lives under our care because of health problems or trauma. Many senior horses we rescued at the very beginning said goodbye to us only a few years ago.

Sometimes it feels impossible that two decades passed so quickly.

But at the same time Centaurus became something much bigger than we could ever imagine back then.

Not only a sanctuary.
Not only a Foundation.

A place that gave hope to animals nobody else wanted anymore. ❤️

People often ask us:
“Wait… this exists in Poland?”

And we smile every time, because maybe that is the biggest proof that impossible things can become real when enough people decide not to give up.

Today our anniversary fundraiser goal is 3000 dollars.

Not because we want to celebrate with luxury or appearances. We never cared about that.

We want to celebrate by protecting the animals who are already here with us.

And maybe that is why after 20 years we still believe this is only the beginning.

Thank you for being part of this story.

A day in the life of a volunteer in Modlimowo. ❤️

This is one of the places where our rescued animals finally get a chance for a peaceful life. Horses, cows, alpacas, dogs and cats live here surrounded by nature, care and people who simply want to help.

In this video we want to show you a little more of our daily life in Modlimowo. Feeding the animals, caring for them, spending time together and building this sanctuary step by step.

Volunteering here is not only about work. It’s about being close to animals, nature and something truly meaningful.

Watch the video to learn more about Modlimowo and our volunteer program. ❤️

‼️ BASIA ❤️

Basia spent her whole life working for one owner.
Today, because of his financial situation, she may be sold for slaughter.

Right now we are trying to secure the deposit first, so we can save her and then fight to raise the full amount for her future, treatment and care.

We urgently need 300 dollars more to protect Basia before it is too late.

Please join us and help change her story.

More on our pages.

For months we had been receiving messages from Albania after which returning to normal life felt almost impossible.

Photos of dogs lying by the roadside.
Videos of injured animals.
Stories from tourists who came back to their hotels and could not stop thinking about what they had seen just a few streets away.

Many people told us exactly the same thing:
“Animals there really need help.”

And perhaps that is why Albania stayed in our minds for so long.

Because behind those photos were not isolated cases, but a world where dogs are often treated like a problem better left unseen.

A world where local people trying to help animals are very often left completely alone.
Without real support.
Without a system.
Without cooperation.

Sometimes even in places where helping animals is made more difficult instead of easier.

That is why we decided to begin our first activities there and connect with people who continue fighting for animals despite everything.

And that is where we met Mali - a young Belgian Shepherd rescued after being shot in the head.

This is a very difficult case.

X-rays still show fragments of pellets inside his skull. Mali can barely see. Despite long-term treatment, the infection keeps returning and pus still leaks from his wounds.

His body has been fighting pain and inflammation for a very long time, yet Mali still calmly approaches people and allows himself to be touched, as if he still believes someone can help him.

And maybe that is what moves us the most.

Because Mali is still a very young dog.
He has a gentle personality and a real chance for a normal life again.
A chance to trust.
A chance to finally find a home.

Dogs like Mali are the reason why we want to help there too.

Today we want to support his treatment, diagnostics and daily care, and do everything we can to give him time to heal and find safety.

This is only the beginning of our story in Albania. ❤️

Suffering has no passport. 🐾

In Romania, hundreds of thousands of stray dogs face the cold, hunger, and danger every single day. On our mission through the mountains, we stopped at every turn to help, heading toward a shelter where 120+ lives depend on just three local heroes.
Thanks to our incredible community, we filled that shelter with enough food to keep their bowls full! 🐶✨ This isn't just our rescue—it’s YOURS. Every wheelbarrow of food is your achievement.
But our mission doesn't stop here. To keep driving, filling empty bowls, and rescuing those who have no voice, we need your strength. Every euro, dollar, or złoty translates directly into kibble and safety.

Today we’re doing something new. We’re expanding our horizons, because the world of animals we help doesn’t end where it’s easier to act. And that’s exactly why today we want you to be here with us.

From the very beginning, we’ve been where animals are invisible. Where their lives depend on chance, on a single person, on whether someone stops. We work in many places, across different countries, also where help practically doesn’t exist. And today, we invite you to one of those places.

This mission is coordinated by Omar, someone you already know. He’s been with us for years. Now he has returned to Jordan and is doing exactly what we’ve been doing together from the start. Rescuing. Organizing. Reaching places most wouldn’t even try. And that’s where what you’re reading about is happening.

This is a difficult region. Dogs are abandoned there, dumped, left at borders, in the desert, far from people. There are hundreds, thousands of them. Fed once, sometimes twice a week, if there are resources and if someone can get there. This Saturday, our team is going there again. To the border of Jordan and Iraq. To places where dogs don’t wait for a miracle. They wait for anyone.

And that’s where he was.

Misho. A puppy, 5–6 months old. Beaten. Struck with a stick. With broken hips. Look at him carefully. This is not an image that should exist. And yet it does.

And despite everything, he survived.

Today he is under care. Being treated. Fighting an infection. Ahead of him is a surgery that will decide whether he will walk. And this is the moment where you can make a difference.

We won’t change everything at once. You don’t have to either.

But you can do one thing.

You can stop for him.

You can help us fight for Misho.

You can make sure this life goes on.

Don’t put it off. Don’t assume someone else will do it. Because every moment like this is a decision.

And today, that decision is yours.

What’s going on at our sanctuaries?

We’ll tell you.

Peace. Quiet. And waiting.

Waiting for the long, endless meadows and open pastures that our horses will soon feel under their hooves again.

Overloaded carriages pulled by a single horse are part of everyday life in Egypt.

Ten, twelve passengers. Sometimes even that’s not enough.

The horse doesn’t matter. It just has to pull.

How much more can one body take?
