Forest Folk School

Forest Folk School Forest Folk School seeks to provide life-changing educational experiences and "bring to life" the traditions of our ancestors.

The Forest Folk School launched its first workshop in August 2014; Master Bowyer Tom Turgeon of Boise, Idaho provided instruction on building custom long bows. In September, James (Sparky) Sparks from McGregor, Minnesota, offered a unique experience in building custom Kenosha Canoes. Both of these artisans will be returning in 2015 to, again, offer their outstanding workshops. An array of artists,

skilled craftsmen, and talented individuals will be presenting workshops, seminars, and training for all ages in a variety of interests. Among the many topics to be offered are: fiber arts, wood carving, painting, leather-making, pottery, candle-making, photography, jewelry, stained glass, wood working, blacksmithing/tool making, building custom muzzle loaders, music, outdoor skills, food preservation, basketry and more! We believe that intergenerational learning opportunities that bring to life the knowledge, skills and traditions of our ancestors build healthier individuals, families and communities. We extend a warm welcome to anyone interested in sharing in the Forest Folk School experience. For more information about our workshops, see our “Courses” page, follow us on Facebook, or contact us at 814-560-3121.
