Looks the flying season is finally upon us!

Other than some rain, wind, and overcast, we are starting to have some good days for flying.

We are starting to do more field maintenance, and people are starting to fly at the field!

The club is saddened by the passing of our long time member and good friend Ken Ray. Ken was a cornerstone of the North Coast RC Modelers for as long as any can remember. He always made visitors feel welcome and influenced many of us to join the club, myself included. We will always remember the valuable and loyal services he gave to his club, to his community and to his country. Ken passed peacefully at the age of 84.

Ken was a former club president and the club’s news letter editor. He mentioned being a radio technician in the navy during WWII and did a variety of things in civilian life including electronics and had a bee hive honey business. Ken learned to fly full scale planes and radio control model airplanes very early in his life. He liked 4 star 40′s, PBY’s, twin engines, helicopters and anything new and cutting edge. He never lost interest or the ability to fly RC and was still flying well at the age of 84. He was a generous and loyal person and we will miss him.

Yesterday was NCRCM's annual fun fly. The pilot's raffle was a gift certificate for HD. The winner was Stan Ray...congrats Stan!

Both Matt Mallory (HeliDirect.com field rep/team pilot from Sherwood, Or) and Steve were on-hand representing HeliDirect.com, and we were the featured noon-time demo pilots.

It was an awesome day of flying!

This Saturday, June 9th, is the Tillamook RC club's annual "fun fly". Flying starts at 8:00am and goes until late afternoon. There will be food/beverages available and lots of flying action!

All types of RC aircraft will be flying, including giant scale aerobatic planes, helicopters, war birds, sail planes and anything else we can put up in the sky.

HeliDirect.com team pilots/field reps Matt Mallory, and Steve Tomlinson, will be on-hand to answer all your RC helicopter questions. They will also be the featured pilots for the noon-time 3D helicopter demo flights with Align and Outrage helicopters. Matt and Steve will amaze you with their 3D "smack" helicopter flying skills...stop by the HeliDirect booth and introduce yourselves!

If you've ever been interested in RC airplanes and helicopters, stop by and see what all the fuss is about! These machines will amaze you!

The Tillamook RC club field is located 7 miles south of Tillamook on Highway 101, just behind barn off of the highway...there's signage letting you know you're there.

All pilots must have current AMA membership and $5.00 landing fee.
Spectators are free.
