Congratulations 👏

As the Youth Basketball program started our mission and goal is not only to help players develop basketball skills, but also to recognize the character that makes great teammates and leaders.

Each year, our program presents the Triple Threat Award, which recognizes athletes who demonstrate leadership, coachability, teamwork, and strong individual effort throughout the season.

This year, two student-athletes consistently showed those qualities.

The 2026 Triple Threat Award winners, David Rider and Maggie Mulder.

David Rider demonstrated great effort, a positive attitude, and a strong commitment to his teammates.

Maggie Mulder showed outstanding leadership, energy, and encouragement for those around her.

Both athletes set a great example of what youth sports should represent.

They were awarded today during an assembly at TJHS by their coaches!

"Building a generation"

Sports teach us to handle adversity without folding. He’ll know what a 5AM workout feels like. He’ll understand how to push through frustration. He’ll learn how to respond when things don’t go his way and how to lead without blaming others. Most kids quit when it gets hard. This game forces you to stay. To adjust. To grow. To compete when you’re tired. To keep showing up.

A young kid who learns how to work, sacrifice, push through failure, and stay committed when things get uncomfortable is built to succeed in ANY arena of life. That’s the goal. Not just raising a hooper. I’m raising a disciplined, confident, mentally tough young man. That’s a dream that never dies.

Sports don’t guarantee success or scholarships. They guarantee character if you embrace the lessons.

The better question is, “Who is he becoming while chasing it?” That’s something no one can take away, because everything earned through hard work lasts longer than anything that’s simply given. 🏀 🧀
