Walmart is trying to break ground THIS MONTH on a superstore on the wetlands near WinCo and Fred Meyer off Highway 99W. They want to build over wetlands and destroy our precious natural resources. They will be building a 300 car park lot. Wait till Walmart moves. Jobs will be lost, taxes will go up. Walmart means lower wages, poorly treated workers, and more workers on welfare programs. e Walmart store costs taxpayers $420,000 because they pay their employees so poorly that they are forced onto food stamps, state health insurance, and other taxpayer funded welfare programs. That's right, Walmart steals from taxpayers! They use tax payers to pay a large portion of their employees wages, and put more profit in their own pockets! Walmart kills local businesses. Local businesses in Tigard will begin to disappear if Walmart builds this superstore. Do we really want to trade in our local, community oriented businesses for a big box superstore that doesn't really care about Tigard? Over 1,000 people are dead from garment factory building collapse in Bangladesh last month. The owners of the building new it was unsafe, yet told the workers they would be fired if they did not enter and work. Evidence has been found in the rubble that Walmart clothing was being made their. It is well known that Walmart uses cheap sweat shop labor to make their products. Those dead people are the price of Walmart low prices. Their blood is the real cost of shopping at Walmart. Nothing about Walmart reflects the values of our community here in Tigard. We must stop this monster from coming to our town. STOP WALMART IN TIGARD!
