LeadingAge Oregon has amazing members, and I’m often asked, “How can I be more involved with LeadingAge Oregon?”

My answer is usually: join us in our advocacy efforts… and that’s typically the moment I can see people mentally checking their calendars for a conflict. I can see immediately it wasn’t the answer they were hoping for. Turns out most people don’t love politics.

But here’s the thing: politics shape policy, and policy dictates how we are able to serve aging Oregonians. Whether we like it or not, it’s a big part of our work.

Advocacy can sound intimidating, and many people aren’t sure what it really means or whether they’re equipped to help. You are! This is a great opportunity to learn how the process works and feel more prepared the next time you join me in Salem or Washington, D.C.
