Overview – Founded in 1939, the Tifton Junior Woman’s Club is the oldest junior woman’s club in Georgia. We are a member of the Georgia Federation of Women’s Clubs. The purpose of our local club and of clubs statewide is to provide volunteer service to our communities. You can find more information about the Georgia Federation of Women’s Clubs at www.gfwcgeorgia.org. Our Club - Our club meets once
a month on the third Tuesday, at 6:00 p.m. We hold our meetings at various restaurants in town. Business meetings usually last about an hour; social time afterward often lasts longer! Officers in our club are: Tiffany Lanier, President; Betty Morgan Cooksey, 1st Vice President; Jessie Marchant, 2nd Vice President; Amanda Smith, Secretary and Becky Smith, Treasurer. Service - We envision a club that becomes known as a reliable resource for other charitable organizations in the community; we want to be the group others call on to support charitable efforts. Examples of projects include awarding of four scholarships to local students, providing and serving a meal once a month at the Tiftarea Soup Kitchen, assisting Called to Care with their banquet for graduating seniors, collecting old denim to recycle into insulation for Habitat for Humanity homes, volunteering at the Tift/Tift County Tourism's Rhythm & Ribs BBQ festival, collecting items to send care packages to the troops, assisting the Tifton Heritage Foundation’s with their annual Tour of Homes, and many more. We participate in the Tift Regional Medical Center/Hospice of Tiftarea Tree of Life event benefitting Tiftarea Hospice and the Oncology Wing each year. Fundraisers – Fundraising proceeds will go towards the TJWC scholarship fund and other charitable projects. Membership – Potential members are invited to a club social event for an opportunity to learn about our organization. After the social, invitations for membership are extended. Upon invitation to membership, prospective members are required to attend two club events (club meeting and/or fundraiser). Prospective members who complete all requirements will be inducted as provisional members at the January meeting.
