⭐Kinship Family Focus⭐
Since September is Kinship Care Awareness Month, we wanted to share a few testimonies of some of our Kinship families throughout this month.
Mrs. M's foster care journey began as a single, fresh-out-of-college young woman who stepped into kinship care for 2 young girls. ❤️
She had known what it was like to be homeless as a child and had experienced the positive impact of a Christ-centered home taking her in.
From there, she began providing respite care, opening her home temporarily to children in other foster families so those families could have extra support. She later married her husband, they welcomed their biological son, and eventually the Lord led their family to become foster parents themselves. ❤️
Six years later, the M family has welcomed around 30 children through foster care! Through every placement, goodbye, hard day, and beautiful moment, they have learned that fostering is so much more than opening your home. They believe everyone is called to serve.
James 1:27 reminds us to care for vulnerable children, but that calling can look different for everyone.
"Maybe you can take a foster child to an appointment. Provide dinner when a family receives a new placement. Babysit so foster parents can have a date night. Sew a blanket for a child entering care. Or maybe you’ve played baseball your whole life and can offer free hitting lessons.
You don’t have to foster to make a difference. You just have to be willing to use what God has given you.
So ask yourself: How can I give back? How can I serve?"- Mrs. M.
Pray for our kinship families as they often unexpectedly take on the responsibility of caring for family members. If you know a kinship family, we encourage you to find ways to support and love on them. 🥰
