It’s a 1963 epic comedy film about a chaotic cross-country race by a group of strangers who learn from a dying thief about $350,000 in stolen cash buried under a "big W" in a park. The movie features a massive cast of mid-century comedy legends, including Milton Berle, Sid Caesar, Buddy Hackett, Ethel Merman, Mickey Rooney, Phil Silvers, Terry-Thomas, and Jonathan Winters, plus cameo appearances by stars like Buster Keaton and The Three Stooges.

These pieces of art were created by Harry J. Webster during a visit with Iris “Paddy” Fiske when she lived at 218 E. VanMeter Drive. Harry and his wife Pamela, Paddy’s sister, traveled here in the mid 80’s from Saxmundham, England for a long awaited visit with Paddy who was a war bride arriving in this country in 1945. She moved to Tiffin, Ohio where her husband, Hugh “Bud” Fiske, established Jeffrey Jewelry and was the owner/operator from 1945 to 1974 when Bud passed suddenly on a trip to a WW II 29th Division gathering in New Jersey. While here Harry was inspired to create these pieces and a few others for family.

Last night’s Lake Mohawk No Stress Book Club, hosted by Jane Wood, was so nice. The book for that event was “Stone Yard Devotional.” It’s now in the lending library at 180 South Trail for anyone else to read. Next month’s event will be hosted by Lenore Bergstrom on August 26th at 6:30pm. You are welcome to join. The reading selection is “The Elegance of the Hedgehog.”
