At Sisters in Shelter, we take pride in keeping our home clean and comfortable for the women who live here. Our residents even take part in the upkeep themselves as it's a small but meaningful part of building routine as they heal. The items on our list are simple, everyday things, but they make a real difference in how our shelter feels day to day.

If you ever find yourself with a little extra to give, we'd be grateful for anything off our cleaning supply list, no amount is too small: https://a.co/0ao2KuCK

No pressure at all, just wanted to share in case it's something you'd enjoy helping with.

TU Job Fair: Federal Work Study Intro

We're headed to the Tiffin University Job Fair on Friday, August 28th, and we're recruiting for Federal Work Study positions! ๐ŸŽ“

Not sure what Federal Work Study (FWS) even is? Here's the quick version:

Federal Work Study is a need-based federal financial aid program that lets eligible students work part-time with approved community organizations (like Sisters in Shelter) to help pay for college expenses. It's earned through a job, not a loan, so there's nothing to pay back.

How do you know if you're eligible?
โœ… You'll need to have completed the FAFSA
โœ… Check your financial aid award letter or student portal to see if Federal Work Study was included in your aid package
โœ… Still not sure? Stop by your school's Financial Aid Office and they can tell you in minutes

If you're FWS-eligible, come talk to us at the job fair (or reach out directly) about working with Sisters in Shelter, a job where your hours don't just pay for school, they help change lives.

Social Media, Grant Writing & Education/Outreach Interns

Are you a self-starter with big ideas and the drive to bring them to life? Sisters in Shelter has three specialized internships open for the 2026โ€“2027 school year:

๐Ÿ“ฑ Social Media, Communications & Digital Marketing Intern โ€” Shape how our community sees and understands our mission. Create content, manage our social platforms, and help grow our online presence.

โœ๏ธ Grant Writing, Research & Nonprofit Development Intern โ€” Dive into fundraising and grant research, helping us secure the funding that keeps our programs running strong.

๐Ÿ“ข Education, Outreach & Program Development Intern โ€” Help build and deliver community education on human trafficking awareness and prevention, and strengthen our programming from the ground up.

We're looking for people who are organized and creative self-starters who take initiative. You'll have real ownership over your role, room to bring your own ideas, and the chance to help us continuously grow and improve.

If that sounds like you, we want to hear from you!

๐Ÿ“ง Email [email protected] to apply or ask questions.

Case Manager & Administrative/Residential Interns (Multiple Openings)

We're hiring several interns for the 2026โ€“2027 school year, and we want YOU. ๐Ÿ™Œ

Sisters in Shelter is looking for multiple students to fill our Case Manager Intern and Administrative & Residential Intern positions.

๐Ÿ”น Case Manager Intern โ€” Work directly alongside our Case Manager to support survivor advocacy, service coordination, case documentation, appointments, and life-skills development. Perfect for students in social work, human services, counseling, victim advocacy, or criminal justice.

๐Ÿ”น Administrative & Residential Intern โ€” Get hands-on experience in nonprofit operations, administrative support, and Safe House operations, supporting both the day-to-day office functions and the residents we serve.

Both roles are ideal for students who want real, meaningful experience and not just busy work, and who are ready to show up, adapt, and support survivors on their journey toward safety and independence.

We're looking to fill several positions, so don't wait to reach out!

Welcome back, Tiffin University and Heidelberg University students!

As you settle back into campus life, we want to introduce ourselves. We're Sisters in Shelter, a Tiffin-based nonprofit dedicated to serving adult female survivors of human trafficking through safe housing, case management, advocacy, education, and restorative services right here in Seneca County.

Our work only happens because of community partners like you and every year, we're grateful to welcome student interns from both University and University who bring fresh energy, skills, and heart to our mission.

This year, we're gearing up to welcome a new class of interns across several roles from direct survivor support to marketing, grant writing, and community education. Whether you're looking to build your resume, explore a future career in nonprofit or human services work, or simply make a real difference in your community, there's a place for you here.

Stay tuned this week as we spotlight each of our open internship positions! ๐Ÿ‘€
