š¤ BNI Member Spotlight: Derek Sidor with Your Legacy Federal Credit Union! š
This morning, Derek Sidor with Your Legacy Federal Credit Union gave our BNI chapter a great presentation and helped us better understand something many of us donāt know enough about ā what makes a credit union different from a traditional bank?
š” Did you know credit unions are actually not-for-profit organizations?
Unlike traditional banks, credit unions are owned by their MEMBERS! That means their focus is on giving back to the people they serve through lower loan rates, higher savings rates, and fewer fees. Theyāre even governed by a volunteer Board of Directors who serve without pay!
š What about your money? Credit unions are federally insured through the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), offering the same standard $250,000 deposit insurance protection as FDIC-insured banks.
š Hereās something worth knowing! Your Legacy is a leader in auto lending right here in Seneca County! Did you know you can visit a credit union BEFORE heading to the dealership? You can explore financing options, understand your loan, and secure a competitive rate before you even start shopping!
š A little history: Your Legacy Federal Credit Union was founded in 1952, which means theyāll be celebrating an incredible 75 YEARS in 2027!
And they offer SO much more than auto loans! Their services include checking and savings accounts, credit cards, personal loans, mortgages, money market accounts, and much more.
ā¤ļø What stood out most from Derekās presentation was their commitment to PEOPLE. From putting their members first to supporting local events, organizations, and community partnerships, Your Legacy is truly invested in the community they serve.
One of my favorite things about BNI is how much we learn about each otherās businesses. There was so much about credit unions that many of us didnāt know before today!
š Thank you, Derek, for educating our chapter and showing us what makes Your Legacy Federal Credit Union such a valuable part of our community!
