☀️ Good morning, everyone! This week marks our final scholarship feature! 🤩

Meet Gracie Wells, who is on the Pre-Med track at the College of the Holy Cross. She runs her own baking business too! 🧁

“I learned to walk in the St. Mary’s Hallway. I learned to read and write within the same yellow brick walls, but I didn’t just learn, I fell in love. As I went from stumbling over words in Magic Treehouse books to tearing through Percy Jackson, I was enthralled with how much there was out there for me to learn. I can still picture myself sitting in my third grade classroom, struggling through my times tables, can still feel the adrenaline I felt when we got pop quizzes in eighth grade science. Those moments were all just the beginning of what has now become my life. Holy Cross is everything that little me, toddling around the St. Mary’s hallways could have dreamt of. I truly cannot wait to start my next era on The Hill, where I will discover all the things I have ever wanted to learn and work steadily towards my goal of becoming a physician. Being awarded the Northern Lake George Foundation Scholarship makes all of these dreams that have slowly grown from multiplication to medical terminology more accessible. It is a great comfort to know that there are so many people in this community who are not only rooting for me but also supporting me on my next journey.” - Gracie

☀️ Good morning, everyone! We’re starting your week with a scholarship feature! 🤩

Meet Brady Leerkes, who is studying Electrical, Construction, and Maintenance at Hudson Valley Community College. He may add in lineman training as well! 💡

“Over my life I’ve learned from my father the value of saving money and not spending beyond my means. I have also seen the stress of large school loans placed upon my siblings. When I started to look at career paths and potential schools, I kept that in mind. Trying to balance a quality education with staying out of debt to the best of my ability. I worked two jobs my senior year to save for college expenses and limit the amount I need to borrow. This scholarship is going to help bring me closer to achieving this goal and I can’t thank the Northern Lake George Foundation enough.” - Brady

This time of year, many of you are sending your child(ren) off to the first day of school. We sent Mike Corbo off to the first day of being our Executive Director! 🤩

Mike will lead an exciting new era of NLGF. Despite it only being his first official day of work, he is already busy connecting with our community and identifying ways to enrich the lives of current and future generations in Northern Lake George. The best part? Many of you already know Mike! He is super passionate, and you can read more about his appointment on our website at www.nlgfoundation.org/news.

Meet Eli Dromgool, who is studying Cybersecurity at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT). His goal is to work remotely from our area because he loves it so much! 🌲

Meet Madelyn Drinkwine, who is studying Environmental Science at North Country Community College. She’ll be kickin’ on their soccer team too! ⚽

Meet Shaelene Dedrick, who is studying Nursing at LeMoyne College. Since she’s worked part time through school, she’s also the queen of balancing a busy schedule! 🗓️

“This scholarship will have a profound impact on my future, allowing me to focus more fully on my studies in Nursing at Le Moyne College by easing the financial burden of housing, textbooks, and tuition. ☀️ Good morning, everyone! We’re starting the week with our first scholarship feature! 🤩

Meet Isabelle Burroughs, who is studying Childhood and Special Education at the University of Albany. She will also be competing as part of their D1 track team! 🏃‍♀️

“Receiving this scholarship is going to make a huge difference during my first year of college. Starting college is an exciting moment, but it is also going to come with new responsibilities and challenges. Scholarships like this are going to allow me to focus on being a student-athlete. As a future member of my college track team, I’m going to spend many hours at practices, workouts, competitions, and team meetings. Opportunities like this will allow me to not have to worry about working long hours or constantly thinking about how I will pay back student loans. Instead, I can direct my energy to earning good grades, improving as an athlete, and adjusting to college life. Receiving this scholarship is more than just financial assistance- it’s an investment in my future. It is going to help make my first year of college less stressful and allow me to focus on achieving my academic and athletic goals. I am incredibly grateful for the generosity.” - Isabelle
