We appreciate you taking a moment to learn more about our club. Our mission is to honor the memory of American Veterans and Police Officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty, to assist Veterans and Police Officers in their time of need, and to promote community awareness through sponsorship and participation in various community and fund-raising events. The club was founded in New Jer
sey by Jack Quigley, now a retired Undersheriff of the Bergen County (NJ) Sheriff’s Department. Jack served in Vietnam as a platoon sergeant with the 11th Motor Transport Battalion, First Marine Division. As Jack says, “The club was formed to recapture the brotherhood its founding members shared while serving in Southeast Asia, and to help other veterans of all wars who are unable to physically or financially help themselves.”
The first chapter of the Nam Knights MC was founded in the summer of 1989, by a small group of Harley-riding combat vets of the Vietnam War, who were also police officers. To date, there are 77 chapters spread across 17 states and Canada. The Battlefield Chapter was established in 2010 and currently has 14 members living in and around Frederick County. We are an IRS approved 501(c)3 charitable organization which has established programs and events which support military and law enforcement causes. Members of the Battlefield Chapter share a strong bond rooted in over 30 years of Brotherhood. We are dedicated to the overall mission of the club. We have fun, ride our Harleys, and support those who serve. Membership is made up of 50% military veterans (active, retired, previous military with a valid DD-214, National Guard, or military reserves, 50% police officers (active or retired), plus a few "Patriots". The Patriot members who are non-police/non-veterans enjoy all the benefits of any member, although they cannot hold executive positions from 1st Sergeant At Arms up through the position of President. All members ride Harley-Davidson Motor Company, Indian Motor Company or custom-built motorcycles with the appearance and construction of which is identical to a Harley-Davidson, and which engine parts are interchangeable with a Harley-Davidson with an engine displacement of 750cc or above. Although our club was started by Vietnam era veterans (hence our name), we have veterans from all eras including those who served in Iraq and Afghanistan. We are not a mail order club and you have to earn your patch - our MC is not for everyone. We respect MC tradition, history, and protocol. Before becoming a Prospect you must perform a “Hangaround” period. The Hangaround period is a minimum of 90 days before you can be considered for Prospect. If you are interested in learning more about how to prospect for our club, shoot us a message!
