This summer extensive logging was done on three properties with owners sharing one header on our C4 Trail from Drexel Road to Tucker Road after the logging was completed land owners reached out to let us know that some of the trail was disturbed during logging and would need improvement.

Trail manager, Jeff has graciously donated the use of his excavator to complete this project. JCT excavation and stump grinding is his business and he has been working nights after work to complete this trail work.

Landowner Amy Baker was having some work done on her moose Mountain Lodge, and had some extra gravel that she graciously donated to the club to assist with the improvement on the trail system.

Moose Mountain Lodge is located right off of C4 on Drexel Road or a nice circular driveway ready to accept Snowmobile trailers. Our trail system runs through the property belonging to Amy.

Reminder, there is a work party this Saturday to construct our structure over our containers so we can have inside storage for the groomers during the winter.

This fall, our club members volunteered with Stony Creek Endurance, Wilcox Wild an endurance race held in the Wilcox wild Forest. The route is from the Harrisburg Lake Lodge out the Snowmobile trail to pumpkin Hollow around to Wells and then back through to the Harrisburg Lake Lodge. The race saw 27 runners and is slowly growing over the years.

Our club and a few of our members provided the use of the Club side-by-side along with first aid and CPR trained members to offer first aid if needed and also helped with one of the wellness stations along the trail.

This week we received a $600 donation for the Stony Creek endurance to support our Club. Being that the race shares trails with Snowmobile Club and also gave our volunteers a chance to do some trail work. As agreed-upon with our VSA of the state.

here is a map available through NYS DEC outlining what is allowed for recreation in the Wilcox wild forest this is the North Map. Although our club hasn't been granted a VSA to maintain all trails in this area it is great to see all the trails open to snowmobile use.

The Wolf Pond West Stony Creek trail is completed.
Thank you to the board for supporting completing this trail.
Thank you to Roger Saheim for bringing in the equipment to finish and grade in the last section. 7 culverts were installed to divert water under the trail, the timber company tasked us to build a 50 year trail.
Previously this year we renter an excavator and our volunteers ran it for a week to get the lower section built out.

Work on the Trails continue, the Wolf pond West Stony Creek Trail is taking shape and we are thankful to be off that road.

Work on the containers is continuing and we look forward to the dry storage for the winter, work party next weekend 24/25 to work on the structure and get ready for snow.

Snowmobile Show was a success and we look forward to future shows

As fall approaches and everybody’s out around their seasonal camps, please remember to only ride where you are allowed. Currently already fielding complaints about ATVs trespassing on Snowmobile trails, people riding around gates and closing trails.

Major trail we invested many years into to open has been closed. We are hopeful it’s the landowner will allow us through again but time will only tell. I have two more meetings landowners this week to see about the fate of other trails that have had problems with people where they don’t belong from people on mountain bikes who feel Snowmobile trails should be theirs as well to Atv’s all trespassers.

One landowner put it nicely I allowed you to open a path on my property for the purpose of snowmobiling you installed gates I put up no trespassing signs but if you had not put this path through my property, would anybody think to travel here?

So as trails close I thank you because ways we’ve worked so hard to make safe are no longer usable.

The entitlement that every group should be able to use anywhere is getting old.
Snowmobile trails are for Snowmobiles, they’re not Atv trails. They are not hiking trails. They’re not biking trails. They are not skiing trails unless noted as such.

I don’t understand why it’s so hard to stay out of a closed gate area, exhausted, landowner advocate!

Lots of fun was had at the first annual Snowmobile show and swap meet. It was fun to watch the old bogey wheel machine run around on no snow. Can’t miss that skidoo sound.
