Tomorrow is a big day for a few of our special little court case babies. ❤️

We’ll be heading back to Cambria Veterinary Care for repeat bloodwork to make sure everyone’s levels are continuing to improve after everything they’ve been through.

If their bloodwork looks good, we’re hoping to get surgery scheduled for two of our babies so they can finally start moving forward in their recovery. One bird is needing a toe removal, while our other is facing a much more extensive procedure involving a full foot amputation and potentially part of her leg as well. These are surgeries we’ve been preparing for, and while they’re scary, they’re necessary steps toward giving these birds a pain-free and comfortable future.

Our little parakeet with the dislocated leg will also be getting a recheck, so please keep your fingers crossed that we continue seeing progress.

Thankfully our appointment isn’t until 1:15 PM, which means we don’t have to leave quite as early as we did last time. Unfortunately, with a car full of birds and a long drive ahead of us, it’s still shaping up to be another marathon vet day.

The good news? We got ahead of the game today. Chop is made, cages are clean, and everyone is excited to go. Tomorrow our only job is loading up the flock and getting them the care they deserve.

As always, thank you for following along with these birds’ journeys. Every appointment gets us one step closer to healthier, happier lives for these little ones. ❤️🦜🐦

Chop Day = Happy Bird Day 🥬🦜

My arms got quite the workout today! This week’s fresh chop is packed full of healthy ingredients to keep everybirdy happy, busy, and well-fed.

On today’s menu:
🌶️ Mini sweet peppers
🌶️ Jalapeños
🎃 Butternut squash
🍠 Sweet potatoes
🌾 Quinoa
🥕 Veggie noodles
🥦 Riced cauliflower
💛 Yellow squash
💚 Zucchini
🌱 Okra
🥚 Hard-boiled eggs
🫘 Lima beans

One of the biggest misconceptions about parrots is that they can thrive on pellets alone. Fresh foods are an important part of a balanced diet, and chop day is one of our favorite days around here. With well over 50 birds in my care, making chop is definitely a labor of love, but seeing clean bowls and happy beaks makes every minute worth it.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I have a kitchen to clean and approximately 10 birds ready to tell me I somehow forgot their favorite ingredient 🦜💚

ADOPTION SUCCESS! ❤️

Some birds come to us with a story we can’t fully tell.

Because this handsome little guy is part of an active case, his face and identifying features will stay covered for now. What we can say is that he has officially found his person.

From the moment they met, it was obvious. He chose his mom, and she chose him right back. Watching the two of them together made every difficult day, every late night, and every heartbreak that comes with rescue feel worth it.

There are so many details we wish we could share, but for now, just know that this sweet boy went from uncertainty to security, from surviving to thriving, and from rags to riches.

When he came to us, he had so little and was beyond traumatized. Yesterday, he left with everything. He went from a cage with nothing to a cage full of toys, enrichment, and opportunities to just be a bird. Most importantly, he’ll never have to wonder where his next meal is coming from, whether his water will be fresh, or if anyone loves him. He now has a permanent supply of food, clean water, and love that will never run out.

Rescue isn’t always about dramatic transformations. Sometimes it’s about finding the one person who makes a bird feel safe so they can be exactly who they are.

The hardest part of rescue is saying goodbye. The best part is knowing it’s because a bird found exactly where they belong. This little guy found his place, and I couldn’t be happier for him. ❤️

From nothing to everything. No more wondering what’s next—just toys to destroy, treats to demand, and a parront who already knows the sun rises and sets with you.

Happy tails, little man. Thank you for letting me be a chapter in your story. Now go enjoy the rest of it. ❤️🦜🏡✨

Adoption Spotlight: Eve, Beep, Nelson, Lemon, & Eva ✨

Looking for a flock that comes with its own management team? Meet Eve and her four loyal followers.

We know absolutely nothing about their backgrounds, ages, or previous lives, but one thing is crystal clear: they are ridiculously bonded to each other. These five have decided they’re a package deal, and we’re not arguing with them.

Eve is the brave one and the only bird in the group who will step up. The other four have a much different philosophy on life. Their ideal home consists of:

* Being near you
* Watching you
* Judging you occasionally
* Following Eve’s lead
* Existing peacefully with their flock

They aren’t looking to be cuddly, hands-on birds. They’re looking for a family that will love them exactly as they are and appreciate the joy of watching a tight-knit little flock do flock things.

❤️ Must stay together
❤️ Disease tested and ready for a home
❤️ Meet-and-greet required
❤️ Located in Throop, PA

If you’re interested in giving these five best friends a forever perch, an application must be submitted and approved before scheduling a visit. Some birds are looking for a person—these five are looking for someone willing to join their friend group. 🐦🐦🐦🐦🐦

🥑 Adoption Spotlight: Avocado 🥑

Meet Avocado, our 7-year-old Green Cheek Conure who’s looking for a family of his own!

Like any self-respecting Green Cheek, he’s a little nippy at times, but he’s a sweetheart overall and never means any real harm. He’s full of personality, loves being involved in whatever you’re doing, and has perfected the art of making sure everyone knows when it’s time for the daily conure scream session.

Avocado absolutely loves his morning scream time with the rest of the conure crew, but once that’s out of the way, he’s actually a pretty calm and collected little guy. We’re also making great progress with his flight skills after coming to us clipped. He’s finally getting a nice straight flight line and gaining confidence every day, so he’ll need a family willing to continue helping him build those muscles and flying skills.

He’s down a toe but somehow still has a perfect grip on poor decisions.

If you’re looking for a funny, lovely little conure with plenty of character, Avocado might just be your guy!💚🦜

📍 Avocado is located in Throop, PA. An adoption application must be submitted and approved before a meet-and-greet can be scheduled. We do not schedule visits without an approved application.

Today we received a call from the Pennsylvania Game Commission regarding a little Quaker parrot who was left behind after a tenant was evicted.

Because we hold an active Pennsylvania Quaker permit, we were contacted to provide a safe landing spot for this sweet baby.

And sweet is an understatement.

This little guy appears to be under 6 months old and is an absolute doll. Unfortunately, he’s also horribly clipped, which seems to be a trend with the birds finding their way to us. Despite that, he’s curious, friendly, and already making himself right at home.

He’ll be getting a disease test, and assuming everything comes back negative, he’ll be available for adoption to a Quaker-legal state only in accordance with state regulations.

For now, he’s safe, he’s loved, and he’ll never have to wonder where his next meal is coming from again.

Welcome to the good life, little man. 💚🏡🦜

Late yesterday we received a call asking how soon we could come for two little parakeets. Their owner was set to begin hospice care at 10am today, and arrangements needed to be made quickly for the babies left behind.

For roughly the last month, the leasing office had been stepping in every single day to care for them and make sure they were okay. Thanks to their kindness, both little ones appear physically healthy and well cared for — just understandably terrified and unsure right now. They’re only around 4 months old and have had their whole world flipped upside down.

They may be scared now, but they’ll learn very quickly that they’re safe. Welcome to the good life, babies💕

We’ve also updated our wishlists with more food and cleaning supplies for the ever-growing flock if anyone would like to help support these two and all of the other birds currently in rescue!

🥳SUCCESSFULLY ADOPTED🥳

✨ Adoption Spotlight ✨

Meet Sheldon, our 7 year old Umbrella Cockatoo looking for a very specific forever home.

Large bird experience is REQUIRED. Not preferred. Required. Umbrella Cockatoos are incredibly intelligent, emotional birds and Sheldon needs a family that truly understands what comes with owning one.

Sheldon is a retired plucker and we are SO proud to say he has not touched his feathers since being with us. He’s made amazing progress, but maintaining that progress will take patience, consistency, and proper handling.

He can be a frisky gentleman due to being pet improperly in the past, so his future family must be willing to work through those moments instead of expecting a perfectly behaved bird immediately. He needs people who understand parrot body language, boundaries, hormones, and trust building.

Underneath it all is a funny, smart bird that deserves a home willing to love him for who he is — not just because he’s beautiful. ❤️
