Good morning, friends! Liz here.
It's my birthday!!!
We've been super busy caring for lots and lots of babies (birds, opossums, woodchucks, squirrels, cottontails, a chipmunk), and building enclosures and we are in need of quite a few supplies! I said we were going to start off slow, but our plethora of tiny patients show that was a dream lol. The animals in need far outnumber the licensed rehabbers able to take them, especially in our area of Michigan, so we've stepped up to take in as many as we reasonably can, but after taking a year off to prepare our new location we are not as stocked up and prepared as we need to be. I've updated our Amazon wishlist and I'll post that below.
One of our main needs right now is building supplies, especially rolls of the 1/2 inch hardware cloth to finish up several enclosures that we will need to move babies into soon! We've purchased some of the lumber we needed to finish another squirrel enclosure but we will need to purchase more of that very soon as well.
We also need more Esbilac! This is one of our most used formulas and we're running very low!
We also always need cleaning supplies and paper towels! We do soooooooo much cleaning!
I could also use several more heating pads, and I've included the specific ones I need on the Amazon list. These ones don't have the automatic shut off so babies stay warm around the clock, and the cord detaches so I can fit them through the bars of my critter nation cages to fit them under the trays inside.
I've also included some mesh sided crates for our songbirds to help protect their wings. Since the move I can't seem to find any of my smaller mesh enclosures, and the bigger one I have doesn't work well in our new intake room so I really need to start fresh with some new ones that will work in our current space.
Another current need is fresh produce, especially leafy green varieties! If you have extra veggies or fruits, or extra space in your garden to put in a couple of extra plants for us we would be so greatful! We spend hundreds of dollars a week on fresh produce alone keeping all or our patients fed. This can be dropped off to our Three Rivers location at any time, just send us a message for our address!
We're also still looking for new volunteers. Volunteers helping us with the animals need to be over 18, and commit to working at least one shift a week (typically 4-5 hours), but multiple shifts a week is even better if you have the time. Our busiest times are mornings, but evenings are also busy! Duties include feeding critters, lots of cage cleaning, assisting with treatments and medications if needed, laundry, dishes, sweeping and mopping, etc. All volunteers will need to be sub permitted and approved by the DNR. If you're interested please fill out the volunteer form on our website at Www.allcreaturesdeserving.org
As always, thank you all for your support! We can't do what we do without all of you! We are a completely non-paid volunteer run rescue, and we run entirely on your generous donations or out of our own pockets.
