This year's age levels are organized as follows. May 1st is the birthday cutoff, however summer birthdays will be considered on a case-by-case basis as know kids want to stick with their classmates:
T-BALL
4/5 yr olds along with 6 yr olds new to the baseball. This level for pure FUN, for both kids and parents alike ;) We hit off the tee, learn to run the bases, learn "ready positions" and general baseball player positions. Practices are at Don Burnside Park in Three Lakes twice a week once school is out. The season is over before the 4th of July.
COACH PITCH
6-8 yr olds. This a purely a developmental level. We learn to hit off of a spring-loaded pitching machine, coaches may pitch and we continue with the tee as well. Players start to fine-tune throwing mechanics, learn more about details of the game, game situations, batting approaches, etc. This level is also pure FUN ;) The focus is to get kids ready for the next level and nurture their love of baseball. The season is over before the 4th of July.
10U MINORS
9-10 yr olds. We continue to develop at this level and move to "kid pitch". This level is still FUN & DEVELOPMENT. Here we play home and away games with umpires against Sugar Camp, Eagle River, Land O' Lakes and Sayner/St. Germain. Kids pitch at this level and we develop more baseball knowledge of the game as a whole. Game play is much faster at this level. Big learning points will be throwing mechanics and pitching, defensive situations, base running, pitching and catching, plate approach, in-game thinking, communication and working as a team. Some league rules are in place to encourage development vs. competition. The focus is to get kids ready for the next level and nurture their love of baseball. Practice will start in April. Games will start in mid-May and will be twice a week until the end of June.
12U MAJORS
11-12 yr olds. At this level the league rules are opened up more to baseball as you may be used to. Stolen bases, bunting, etc. all come into play. The game once again moves faster at this level and it is more competitive but still the focus remains FUN & DEVELOPMENT. We continue to work on basic knowledge of the game, in-game thinking, base running, situational awareness, plate approach, throwing mechanics, etc. The focus is to get kids ready for the next level and nurture their love of baseball. We continue to develop for the next level. Practice will start in April, twice a week. Games start in mid-May and will be twice a week and go into early July.
PREP/SENIOR LEAGUE
13-16 yr olds. This is a mix of Junior High and younger High School Players. Here we groom ballplayers for the varsity level and beyond. At this level we start to play the game at a higher speed like the players will see at the high school level. We also move to the larger high school sized field. This is BASEBALL. There are no rules in place to hold anyone back. Game schedule will start once the high school season is over in late May.
FUNDRAISING
Baseball, like all youth sports, is not cheap to operate. In an effort to keep costs down we have developed several fundraisers over the past few years. We ask you to do your best to contribute to our efforts with these events. We will be in touch with further details.
VOLUNTEERS
We are a non-profit organization and like all non-profits we need help. Volunteer opportunities include Umpires, Coaching, Fundraising, Team Parents, Board Members, etc. If you are interested in getting involved in anyway, shape or form please contact us.
Baseball is a fun sport that teaches our youth confidence, hard work, team work and more. It helps create not just good ballplayers but also productive adults and community members. It gets kids and parents alike OUTSIDE having fun, and working towards a common goal.
We are looking forward to another exciting season. If you have any questions whatsoever please feel free to contact me directly.
Let's Go Bluejays!
