30 years of caring for shelter animals, and today our community reminded us just how much their lives matter. 💙
Healthcare for Homeless Animals is deeply honored to have received a 30th Anniversary Proclamation from Mayor Jeremy Wolf Jeremy Wolf 🐺 and the City Council of Agoura Hills City of Agoura Hills at this week’s City Council meeting.
What touched us most were the personal stories shared about animals loved, rescued, and remembered, and the genuine compassion shown for the animals at Agoura Animal Care Center.
Mayor Wolf shared words we will carry with us into our next 30 years:
“We are only as good as how we treat our animals.”
That is exactly why this work matters. How we care for an animal when they are sick, injured, aging, frightened, or without a home says something about the community we choose to be.
For 30 years, we’ve helped ensure shelter animals at Agoura Animal Care Center Agoura Animal Care Center have access to the medical care they need to heal, live healthy lives, and have every opportunity to find loving homes. None of it would be possible without our incredibly dedicated board, volunteers, donors, veterinary partners, shelter staff, fosters, adopters, and the community that continues to stand behind our animals.
Today, seeing this work recognized by our city felt like something much bigger than an award. It felt like another step forward for our animals, their wellbeing, and their right to quality medical care.
Thirty years brought us here. It took a village.
For every late-night emergency call. Every hurt paw we’ve held. Every frightened animal we’ve comforted. Every drive to the vet with a sick animal in the back of our cars. Every surgery, recovery, adoption, and happy forever home.
This acknowledgment, and every animal who heals and gets to go home, reminds us why we keep going. 💙
We hope for a future where no animal ever needs us. But until that day comes, lets keep showing up, keep holding their paws, and keep saying YES when they do. 🐾
