Last month, our adult Community-Based Day Program visited Ventura Harbor Village to take part in an Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month activity. As part of the month-long celebration, Ventura Harbor Village hosted a Gyotaku fish printing workshop, a traditional Japanese art form that originated in the 1800s.

The group was invited to stay for the entire workshop and enjoy exploring Ventura Harbor Village, thanks to Momentum Refresh's presence at the event. It was a meaningful day of creativity, cultural learning, and community connection.

member, Nola Davidson, a junior at Chadwick High School. Her Mom, Suzana, sister, Kaila, and other NCL Volunteers reached out to Momentum to see if they could help with a beautification project outside of the lobby of Momentum’s Pediatric Therapy Network in Torrance. Nola led a team of volunteers repainting decorative poles and rocks with a message to welcome and encourage the children who receive their Early Intervention and therapies at the Momentum location.

At our Toy Box Open House, families explored interactive toys, sensory activities, books, games, pretend play, and more, while discovering simple ways to support their children’s development through everyday play.

The event gave families hands-on ideas and practical tips for using toys at home to help reinforce speech, language, motor, and sensory skills while making learning fun and engaging. Together, we explored ways to enrich play, encourage communication, and turn everyday moments into meaningful opportunities for connection and growth.
