Raisinghope Empowering teens & young adults who are experiencing foster care through resources and relationships. RaisingHOPE, Inc. We are based in Thousand Oaks, CA.

is a 501(c)(3) that empowers children and young adults in the foster care system to achieve their dreams through Mentoring, Life Skills, Financial Support, and Advocacy. We believe that relationships are the key to supporting our youth long term. We also know that the real need begins when a young person aged out of foster care at either 18 or 21 so we serve individuals aged 0 to 26. Tax ID 47-1788053

Mentoring: One to one program that matches a youth experiencing foster care with a trained community member who provides support, guidance, and cheerleading. PREPARE Life Skills: Courses that focus on skills youth need to survive and thrive. These are skills often taught as a child grows in a family. Topics covered include Budgeting, Credit, Housing, Cooking, Transportation, Employment, and Communication. All classes are interactive and practical. Financial Support: RaisingHOPE provides funding to cover expenses that are not covered in any other way. Examples are textbooks for college, special medical care, housing deposits, extracurricular activities, vehicles, and more. Additional RaisingHOPE programs include:
Celebrate Families - where we honor parents who have done the hard work to break cycles of abuse and neglect to reunify with their children. Holidays of HOPE - a giant holiday party where the community purchases specified wishes for a youth who might otherwise not receive a gift of their preference. Gift Card Bank - we provide youth and county social workers to give youth with gift cards for emergencies, celebrations and achievements. Wear Blue Day - April is Child Abuse Prevention month. Each year RaisingHOPE sponsors a day for the community to take a stand by wearing blue and “painting the town blue” for the cause. We believe in the dignity of our youth and in support plus relationship. We are a voice to the voiceless and provide support where there is none.

Thank you to the Band Together Foundation and Craig (Craig Duswalt) & Natasha Duswalt (Natasha Duswalt) for hosting an incredible benefit concert supporting children and young adults in foster care! 💙

Featuring powerhouse Broadway performers James Barbour, Julie Garnyé, James Snyder and Joey Ruggiero, the evening was fun and inspiring! We were also excited to bring four RaisingHOPE youth to enjoy the show and share with the audience about our work supporting youth experiencing foster care

And Thredge got everyone on the dance floor with some classic hits! 🎶

Last week’s Life Skills Launch class was all about housing and budgeting🏠

Our Housing Navigator, Sharon, walked youth through different housing options and how to budget for them. Youth then paired up and used a pretend budget to find actual housing in Ventura County

After delivering an amazing presentation at the RaisingHOPE Gala earlier this year, RaisingHOPE Ambassador of HOPE, Krystal was invited to speak at the Sherwood Cares Foundation Gala, and she knocked it out of the park!

Her siblings, Angel, Jasmine and Aleec, were there to cheer her on, with Aleec even making an appearance in the opening comedy act!

What a trip! 🎓 this week we took another RaisingHOPE College Campus Tour bringing 23 youth and 5 chaperones to San Francisco State University and San Jose State University!

Along the way, we made a surprise stop at the Exploratorium and grabbed a bite on the Pier

The trip sparked so many great conversations about life, the future, and education goals. 12 youth shared that they plan to apply to one of the colleges we visited!

Our RaisingHOPE family is growing! 🩵

While we aren’t normally in the business of hosting baby showers, we have 12 expectant youth who are like family to us. We’ll be hosting a few simple showers and putting together gifts for the others, and we’re looking for volunteers to help make it happen
