Mentoring: One to one program that matches a youth experiencing foster care with a trained community member who provides support, guidance, and cheerleading. PREPARE Life Skills: Courses that focus on skills youth need to survive and thrive. These are skills often taught as a child grows in a family. Topics covered include Budgeting, Credit, Housing, Cooking, Transportation, Employment, and Communication. All classes are interactive and practical. Financial Support: RaisingHOPE provides funding to cover expenses that are not covered in any other way. Examples are textbooks for college, special medical care, housing deposits, extracurricular activities, vehicles, and more. Additional RaisingHOPE programs include:
Celebrate Families - where we honor parents who have done the hard work to break cycles of abuse and neglect to reunify with their children. Holidays of HOPE - a giant holiday party where the community purchases specified wishes for a youth who might otherwise not receive a gift of their preference. Gift Card Bank - we provide youth and county social workers to give youth with gift cards for emergencies, celebrations and achievements. Wear Blue Day - April is Child Abuse Prevention month. Each year RaisingHOPE sponsors a day for the community to take a stand by wearing blue and “painting the town blue” for the cause. We believe in the dignity of our youth and in support plus relationship. We are a voice to the voiceless and provide support where there is none.

This weekend our incredible Mentor Program Coordinator, Linda Truschke, led a mentor training for a group of new mentors.

We can’t wait to match them with their mentees and watch them become encouragers, advisors, and a steadfast relationship in a young person’s life!

Throwback ⏮️ to celebrate 11 years of RaisingHOPE!

In 2013, Co-Founders Tami Barnett and Dawn Groom set out to raise awareness for youth in foster care through the HOPE4Kids 5K. That first race brought together 400 runners and raised $11,500 to support children in foster care.

Two years later, that community effort officially became RaisingHOPE and now 11 years later, were still empowering youth to build brighter, more independent futures 🩵

Thank you to everyone who has been part of the journey!

🏠 RaisingHOPE Housing Program Story:

Recently, one of our young adults faced an unexpected housing transition and had limited time to find a new place. Through RaisingHOPE’s Program, he worked through multiple barriers, persevered, and ultimately secured an apartment he can sustain long-term.

The team at RaisingHOPE was able to help with his security deposit and first month’s rent, giving him the foundation he needed to get settled while he takes it from there.

When he picked up the cashier’s check, he shared:

“This was really, really hard. I cannot thank you enough. I’m so relieved and so excited.”

We’re proud to support our youth through the challenges and celebrate the moments when they find a place to call home! 💙

🏡 We’ve reached our $100,000 seed goal for the HOPE Sweet Home Campus Project!

Thank you so much to our incredible Cornerstone Donors who have supported this vision at our gala and throughout the past year. Your generosity is helping us turn this dream into a reality!

We’re excited to share that we’ve signed the initial paperwork to begin working with consultants on our feasibility study — the next step toward putting plans and numbers on paper and moving closer to acquiring property.

Follow along as we build HOPE Sweet Home together!

As we enter back to school season, it’s especially important to recognize the challenges many foster youth face along the way

According to the National Foster Youth Institute (NFYI), over 40% of school-aged children in foster care experience educational difficulties due to changes in placement homes, difficulty focusing due to trauma, and lack of support in the home. Through our educational tour program, RaisingHOPE loves to help youth cast a vision for what our youth can do with a little support. We loved watching these grads achieve their goals!

Everyone deserves the support and opportunity to reach their goals! 🏫
