It’s National Friends of Libraries Week! 🎉

Since 2005, the American Library Association has recognized this special week to honor the dedication and heart Friends groups bring to their libraries. Across the country, these volunteers make a lasting, positive impact on their libraries and the communities they serve.

AND, did you know some libraries were even founded through the efforts of Friends groups? These passionate supporters don’t just uplift local public libraries, they also help grow academic and scientific libraries nationwide.

The Friends of the Thousand Oaks Library are proud to be part of this nationwide community of library lovers. 💛

The Friends work together to raise funds through sales in our two bookshops, and 100% of those funds go right back to the library to support:

• New materials and resources
• Cultural programs and author talks
• Book clubs and community events
• Summer reading programs for kids
• One City One Book and Libcon events!

Speaker, literacy advocate, and cultural storyteller, Lucky’s work has been praised by NPR, Billboard Magazine, People Magazine, and the New York Times. You won’t want to miss it!
