Friends of the Thousand Oaks Library

Friends of the Thousand Oaks Library The Friends of the Thousand Oaks Library is a volunteer group supporting both library branches. Donate your items today & spread the word! Love your library?

We resell donated books, DVDs & more—100% of proceeds fund free programs, author visits, aquarium care & more. Support it! 💛📚
The Friends of the Thousand Oaks Library is a nonprofit made up of volunteers who believe in the power of a strong public library. We raise most of our funds through the generous donation of books, which we sell in our on-site bookshops. In 2024 alone, we generated over $20

0,000—and every dollar goes right back to the library. That funding helps sponsor early literacy programs, author visits, databases, technology, community events, sound systems, and more—plus the 3,600-gallon aquarium, a grand piano, and, of course, thousands of books. Becoming a member means joining a cause. Like public radio or PBS, your support keeps the library strong, accessible, and full of life. Members receive our newsletter, fun swag, early access to book sales and events, and the satisfaction of knowing they’re making a real impact. The FRIENDS of the Thousand Oaks Library were thrilled to be part of the 2026 Unity Conejo Pride Picnic at California Lutheran University this weekend! 🌈📚

We loved seeing so many FRIENDS stop by our booth to say hello, including City Councilmember David Newman, CVUSD Board Trustees Lisa Powell and Cindy Goldberg, Deborah Klein Lopez, (candidate for California Assembly District 42), and many more familiar faces.

What a wonderful day! Sunshine, smiles, community spirit, and lots of conversations about books and libraries. Thank you to everyone who stopped by. We had a fantastic time and can’t wait to do it again!

We’re getting ready for the new fiscal year in July, and we’d love to welcome some new faces to the Friends of the Library Board! Right now, we’re especially looking for a Vice President and a VP of Book Sales.

If you’ve ever thought about getting more involved, this is a great way to do it. Our board helps plan fun events, support library programs, and dream up new ideas to better serve our community, all while connecting with a fantastic group of volunteers who truly love the library.

Meetings are just once a month at 6pm (usually the third Tuesday), and any extra time you give is totally flexible.

If you enjoy books, community, and being part of something meaningful (and fun!), we’d love to chat. Feel free to reach out to Geri Trail ([email protected]) to learn more!
